I forgot about Calliope on Days of Our Lives! But no, she's not the inspiration for my name. I had another screen name when TupeloForums first opened, but when the forums underwent a makeover and we all had to reregister, it wouldn't let me register under my old name, for some reason. Well, I'm the world's worst at screen names, so I sat there and sat there and sat there and fumed and tried to come up with another name, and suddenly something on the radio started playing a n old-fashioned carnival theme -- DA...da da da DA...you'd know exactly what I'm talking about if you could hear it. The instrument commonly associated with those themes is the calliope, which is kind of like an organ, only it runs on steam, and little puffs of steam pop out each time a note is played. Anyway, I felt a lot like a calliope, sitting there trying to tap out a new screen name, fuming, steam coming out of my ears. And so, Calliope was born. If I really wanted to be pretentious, I'd say I'd named myself for the Greek muse of epic poetry, but that would just be snotty.  |

If I really wanted to be pretentious, I'd say I'd named myself for the Greek muse of epic poetry, but that would just be snotty. errrrr, now that i feel all undeducated and unsmartlike... hey pontotocmom, yeah, calliope actually married eugene at one time. i'm not sure if they were still married when they left the show. man... that takes me back! calliope also had a VERY short part in "Trading Places", one of my favorite movies. eddie put a coat over her shoulder as she was leaving the party (the one where he threw everyone out unexpectedly) and she said "thank you". see, i'm FULL of useless information (among other things that i'm "full of"). back to calliope.. grats again on the win. you make me feel dumb tho ;D. (that's a compliment!) |
