I would also highly recommend that EVERYONE check this site out, you might very well be surprised who is living in your neighborhood. I was shocked to learn that my son is living two doors down from one of these guys. I have a 2 year old grandson. This worries me greatly. www.sor.mdps.state.ms.us TWD

I have checked out that site every month for three years. I also check out surrounding counties because some may live close and have another county address. And as adults it is everyones responsibilty to protect children. I hope the system works as designed. But I know some will still get lost in the system. I know one guy from Union county who wasn't even put on the internet until recently and he was convicted 2 years ago.

Funny how TWD put that site on here about the Registered Sex Offenders. I was looking through that site one day and found one of those idiots living within a rocks throw from my Mother. Thank God he moved.

I was looking through the list to see if I recognized some people..I went to school with one of them. I should have known he was going to be one their, he touched a 12 year old "inappropriately".
Too bad they can't make a list of people you just "know" are going to be creeps when they grow up...

How many of these do you think are really rehabilitated?

We'll just have to wait and see if they do it again for some of them.
I'm sure some of them are and regret their stupid mistakes, some of them are just mental and are fighting their impulses..
It's like any addictive behavior, can a long time smoker completely quit smoking forever? Will an alcoholic never touch a drink again? Will Grim stop eating Pringles?
I'm sure there are specific cases like the guy who said,"I didn't know she was a minor!" He definitely won't do it again, he didn't know he was committing a wrongdoing in the first place.

I am a little leery of the guys I see on the sex offenders website, because one of them I know personally and grew up with. His was a case of a mad-as-heck ex-wife who wanted custody at any cost and screamed "sexual abuse" against her soon to be ex fighting for custody and about to win. He plead guilty to a reduced charge of touching on his atty's advise because he was getting off light and to get it over with. No fines, no probation, no jail time, no restricted visitation with his daughter, no nothing, but later was told he had to register as a sex offender, yet he was allowed to keep his daughter.
I look at these pictures knowing that people have seen his picture and judged him and it sickens my heart at the bum rap he got. I don't think he is guilty or anything except fighting for his child, and most people don't either, because if he was he wouldn't have her today and the court's would have at least put restrictions on his visitation if they felt he was guilty.
I know not everyone on the list is innocent and there are some real pervs amongst us in this world, but some of those guys are not all bad people, they just got in a bad situation, more than likely with an ex-wife and a gong-ho DHS social worker. To have their photos plastered for me and the world to see is very judgemental.

While some of them are "innocent" especially on the guys who didn't know the person was a minor. It makes me sick to see the ones who were in prison for 2 or more years and then the next time you see their names it is in connection to an Amber Alert. But I did see at noon that a guy at Corinth was locked up and charged for not registering. I'm glad some of the police are watching out. And granny yes I know some parents do hollar abuse to get custody of their kids. So I know not everyone on their are preverts. But it is nice to know who are in your neighborhood who could hurt one of your children.

I recently saw a program on Scifi (it was one of those Amazing Stories/Night Gallery type programs) where the people in a large apartment complex recieve a notice that a registered sex offender has moved in. The drama mounts as they become more and more paranoid, then other children dare one guy's daughter to sneak into the guy's apt and steal something and she is caught by the guy but gets away and the police come and make her return the doll she stole.
Finally, the men get together and decide to take care of the perv. They draw straws and the girl's dad comes up short so he finds the guy out in the park smoking a cigarrette and shoots him. Everyone covers for him and he gets away with it. Then a few days later they recieve another notice that there was a mistake with the address of the first notice and turns out they murdered the guy and he wasn't even a perv.
I know it's just fiction but it could happen.

I wouldn't doubt that was based on fact. I just believe that every adult is responsible for the children. If you suspect something whether it is abuse negelect or whatever, it should be turned in. Even if the person is wrong it is better to be safe than have some little kid be sorry.

I agree Pontotocmom. Always better to be safe where children are concerned. You have to be reminded of the couple who placed in the ad in the paper after the sex offenders were made public, because it had their address listed. Their neighbors were hysterical, but the actual sex offender who had registered had moved years before. Some people may not have read their article and still believe the people at that address are sex offenders!

I looked over several counties' worth of pictures and info.....did anyone else notice that a disproportionate number of these folks committed the crime elsewhere (Indiana, California, Kentucky, etc) but have somehow decided to relocate here??? What are we a perv magnet??
