GREAT atmosphere too, you can actually talk to the person you are eating with hehe ) i also like Sir Anthony's, but i have only tried them in the old mall. haven't tried the mccullough version

If a person had one day in Tupelo, I would recommend Shockley's for breakfast, Smith's for lunch, and BBQ by Jim for supper.
Then start your diet the next day.

Olive Garden (we have not experienced ANY bad service there) +1 on Olive Garden and Logan's Red Lobster (its a pretty good place to eat) [/quote] Except for the last time we ate there together.. They pretty much reek, there hasn't been good BBQ in Tupelo since Omar's left.. If a person had one day in Tupelo, I would recommend Shockley's for breakfast, Smith's for lunch, and BBQ by Jim for supper. Then start your diet the next day. Slobber, slobber, slobber Shockley's for breakfast AND lunch!

Another good place to eat is Harvey's its located on South Gloster street, just south from crosstown.
I love there Prime Rib Sandwish & they have the best HOMEMADE Mozzarella Sticks ever.

Best mozarella sticks around? Try the Cotton District Grill in Starkville, best mozz sticks ever. Hands down. Also have a jalepeno jack that is good too.
Lunch favorites in Tupelo: Tellini's(you can't beat the price or speediness of the service, consistency is good too), Connie's(best chicken tender in town, the banana pudding is good as well so get the salad bar), Pepper's(when the bread is fresh, not all the time).

I agree Grim, the prime rib sandwich at Harvey's is deeeeelicious. I also like the marinated tuna at lunch. It taste like a steak, but can be cut with your fork and it melts in your mouth.
Connie's has the best onion rings in the world! And, Finney's makes a chocolate malt that cannot be beat.

Maries, great Italian Beef?
About twenty years ago they were at least good.
The last couple of times I tried it, it was beyond terrible!
An Italian Beef is not good if the juice does not run down your elbows. The bread is very important, too. Marie's was served on a sub roll and was dry. A true Italian would have shouted, "Mama Mia! I can't eata!"
It's probably been five years since I've been back. If things have changed, I apologize.
The Philly Cheese Steak at Lenny's does taste "authentic". But, a true Philly Cheese Steak is twice as large, or at least has twice the beef. Lenny's is a littlle skimpy, but their price is not.

My favorite is Mexican.
Los Compadres in Saltillo and Margaritas Mexican Grill by the Mall. Both are very good.

I haven't been to Margarita's Grill yet, but Los Margarita's has always been exceptional. Both Cancun's and the other restaurant are also good. I think all the Mexican restaurants in Tupelo are really good. Los Margarita's used to get high 90's and 100's on their health inspections and they still get a "Pass"..I miss the grading system.

I haven't been there yet either. But my dad (who is a real Texan) loves it over there. If he graded it then it would have high numbers.
