My hubby delivers gas for a small gas company. He says that every gas company gets their gas from the same four places, Velero and Lion in Memphis and two others in Meridian. Now, I'm not trying to knock anybody for making a buck, but if all the gas companies get the same gas at the same places at the same prices, then why is Tupelo gas always 20 to 30 cents higher than Wild Bill's in Sherman or other gas stations in New Albany? You may want to look to Tommy Brooks Oil. He delivers the gas to the statioms in Tupelo. Trust me, if you live in Tupelo, it's worth the drive to Wild Bill's in Sherman. Their gas is $2.63 per gallon today.

Vib, I would be interested in hearing more about how the country of Norway operates. Like, what is the average wage? Is there a minimum wage set? What about taxes. How do the people of Norway pay governmental taxes? By income, property, sales tax, ad valorum taxes, license fees and tags, building permits. You may have to start another thread as this is the gasoline thread though. Sorry TF that I put this on this thread. I am just interested in knowing.

As of today, Tupelo came down on some of their gas prices. However, the other day, it was .25/ gallon cheaper at wild bills. Tupelo charges higher prices simply because they can and get away with it. Tupelo has greedy merchants, not all but the people know who is greedy and who is not.

Wild Bill's is cheaperr because they buy whatever is leftover from all the big guys. I remember reading an article in the Daily Journal several months ago that detailed how they get cheaper gas. The bottom line is, after all the big guys buy what they want, then there issome leftover and they sell it (or auction it, Icannot remember which) at a much reduced price just to move the product out.

Sorry, Darth, but that's not correct. My hubby actually drives for Wild Bill's and he's up there every day at the same places that all the other drivers get the gas at. I don't know what article you read in the Daily Journal, but I do know this to be true. Everyone who gets gas in Memphis and Meridian all get the gas for the same price. It's not actually up to the individual stores on how much gas is, it's up to the oil companies, like Dees Oil, Tommy Brooks Oil, etc. Wild Bill's sells his gas so much cheaper, because he doesn't hire someone to go and get it for him and he's in control of the gas prices at his stores. He actually sells gas to some other gas stores in other areas. But, he pays the same price for gas that all the other big guys pay. However, gas prices changes every day and it changes at 6:00pm. You can actually watch it change on TV where the stock tickler goes across the screen. The bigger gas companies want you to think that he gets what is left over, but it's simply not true. Everyday when he loads, he loads right behind and in front of the other trucks. Sorry you were mis-informed.

The article must have been a generalization about why gas is cheaper at some places and not at others, I do not recall if Wild Bill's was mentioned in the story or not, my mistake. I did one of those assume things and we all know what happens when you assume...ahem! TFADMIN

That's okay. I just know that with gas prices as high as they are, I for one don't care if they make the gas out of the oil that's laying around in the parking lots, as long as it's cheap!! I do think that the government should put a cap on the price of gasoline like they did the television cable year's ago!! I don't think that will ever happen, but something has gotta give soon!!

I cannot promise much, but I'm willing to stake my life that gas prices will NEVER go down to the level that was pre-war, around $2.20. In the course of history, it has never happened, and now that they (oil companies and speculators) know we can stomach $3.00 per gallon, there is no telling what will happen next.
They just discovered VAST oil deposits further in the ocean, they are significantly deeper than where they first thought we would find oil. I say, oil companies, use those records profits, R&D the equipment you will need to get to those deposits and GO, GO, GO, ASAP! Tapping those fields will certainly help!

But until the tree-huggers allow us to build new refineries.......well, the price will keep going up.

I don't want to be the one to jinx the whole thing, but it looks like we will see $2.00 gas prices before Tanksgiving <-- Sorry, but I thought it was funny! Speculator's (You know, those guys that artificially raise the price of oil) are getting out of the market. That's right, they've fattened their wallet's at the consumer's expense and now they are getting out, which is yet another indicator that oil will keep dropping in price for a little while.
If nothing stupid happens in the middle east or God forbid, another terrorist attack on the US, before Christmas, everyone will have a little more money in their pockets.
