If you would re-read the post, you would see that I explained that this was told to me by an elderly resident. In each post I have re-iterated the fact that it was told to me by someone else. I said in my earlier post that I believed it to be true, because I had no reason to believe that this resident would tell any type of lie. I still do not believe that she lied, she truly believes her granddaughter. This resident has lived here for over five years and I believed it because I have never had any reason to believe that she would lie.
This post was not posted to scare people during the holidays. I assure you that this was not my intention. I posted this because I thought that it might help for parents (myself included) to be a little more careful while they are shopping. This was also posted under "General Gossip" because, it was told to me, it didn't happen to me first hand. I do not believe that this post would have caused anyone to not shop at the mall this season or anywhere else for that matter.
And for your information I am very familiar with Google as well as other other search engines. However, nothing turned up when I searched. This was another reason for the post.

I received this email this year. I didn't forward it because I didn't know that it was true or not. However, I don't feel that anyone should feel ugly at momof3 for posting what she had heard. It might not have happened this year and it might not have happened in Mississippi, but I would bet something simiular has happened somewhere at sometime. It doesn't hurt to remind people to be more careful and alert this time of year. There are alot of crazy people in this world that wouldn't have one problem kidnapping a child and selling it, because they don't have enough brains to get money the right way!! by WORKING for it!!!
No, I do not beleive the media would have been all over it either. That is bad publicity for the mall. Say what you want but it's the bottom dollar that runs the media. Not public safety.
And to pea and carrots: I don't think "my shrink agrees with you" serves as an apology. You owe momof3 an apology. You were VERY rude and out of line.

Sorry, PnC, but you don't have the face of a giver-upper. My wife still swears that people at the mall get their ankles slashed at least once a week by people hiding underneath their cars when they come out. She worries herself silly everytime our daughter (26) goes to the mall alone. No amount of "proof" that the ankle slashing stories are fake will convince her. She firmly and honestly believes it is true. But, of course, that doesn't make it true.

I remember the story a few years going around about a man all dressed up like an old woman sitting in church-goers automobiles. He/she was supposedly needing a ride home from church, but had some kind of weapon, like an ax or something hidden in his/her big bag, waiting to get you when you drove away from all people. I believe that momof3 wanted to warn folks to keep their children close to them. While shopping, it is easy for children to slip away from us so easily. At the time she probably really thought this was a threat. She has since said that now she realizes it may be an urban legend. Now that that has been established let's get on with other more urgent nonsense talk. ;D ;D ;D ;D

As some of you may have seen... on the new site, I plan on having a "War" or "Flame" forum called "THE TOILET BOWL", not that this thread qualifies for such, I'm just saying if you wanna have a knock-down drag-out, I will have a place for it! Thank you.
