and that's our responsibility to look and see what the fundraiser if for. (or we should refuse to buy/donate if they won't say what exactly it's for).
if the school wants to have a fundraiser for a new fieldhouse... i have no problem with it. just let us know it's for the fieldhouse.
i've yet to see a fundraiser earmarked for books,,, i'd like to see it!

the football teams can generate the money, no problem to support themselves. In fact, some football teams gate fees end up bailing out another sport because of lack of interest. Some schools take 10% of the total gate fees and put it back into academics. One school got $8,000 from it one time. Thats a hefty chunk of change. They turned it around and put it into helping to pay for classroom supplies and supplementing the textbook budget. That, to me, is a good use.

the scanners are easily seen as a waste of money. There are pros and cons. The cons are that yeah, one scanner costs about $850, however we bought used ones that some company traded in for newer ones. The biggest pro is that it has to be you that punches in. Nobody else can sign in for you. The biggest con is the cost. But, it could be worse. One school dist down south purchased the hand readers to be used for controlled access. Each classroom has one outside of it and you have to use it to gain access to the room. Secure, yes, but seems to be a better lock and key system could have been used.

You know something, I sit here reading this and cannot help thinking about the Story about the Las Vegas Stripper's. And all the money they gave to the School System..... ;D
