I just recived this from mirosoft this morning so I figured I'd better pass this on right away. Be extremely careful if using internet mail such as yahoo, hotmail,Aol and others. You may recieve an apparently harmless email with a power point presentation "LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.PPS" If you do recieve it DO NOT OPEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES and delete immediately. If you open this file, a messsage will appear on your screen saying : It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful. and you will lose everything in your PC, and the person who sent it will gain access to your name,e-mail and password. This virus started Saturday. AOL has already confirmed its severity, and most anti virus software are not capable of destroying it This virus was created by a person called " LIFE OWNER" Please send to all your friends this warning. After I recieved this warning I checked and it was there .I deleted it right away.

I've got the SP2 update installed with Windows Firewall active, I have the Google toolbar installed for pop-ups,I have Spybot Search and Destroy set to monitor for spyware and bad cookies and registry changes, I run Ad-Aware once a week, I use AVG anti-virus with AV Shield and email scanning, and I have a firewall in my router with WEP encryption enabled and the default settings changed, I also changed the default login and am running with admin rights..the only way a hacker can get me is if I let him into the house..I hope. It's crazy that you have to have all this security junk installed and running to keep Joseph from Norway from running a server on your machine behind your back..

Excellent defense strategy wittzo and I agree it's sad that we have become subject to such extremes. Just have started to notice some intrusion in the Firefox browser. It was inevitable that the malware creeps would end up jumping on any alternative gaining ground on IE. Spybot S&D, Ad-aware SE 1.05, AVG 7, Spywareblaster 3.3 (javacoolsoftware), WEP on a Netgear router posing as an access point, DLink hardwire router, and an ancient manageable Intel switch have kept the baddies at bay for years. Active policy at the beach house: Update all that is updateable!

Anything that can be cracked can be cracked. There are tons of viruses that can infect cell phones that have wireless Internet access and Bluetooth connectivity.
I read that there is a virus that can infect cars that have Bluetooth for their integrated cell phone systems.
It's not that big a deal, but it's a pia, considering what you can access with your phone or PDA.
It's like installing deadbolts on a house. You might not get a break in your whole life, they day you get lazy is the day that someone jiggles your handle.
