It's not surprising. She is an amazingly talented writer. Pern is a very deep and engrossing world and she creates characters that seem to really breath and make you care about them. I need to get back into those books since I'm almost at the end of Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.
I had a single volume trilogy named Dragonriders of Pern. I can't remember the 1st two novels in it but the third was The White Dragon. I then read Moreta and then one about the first colonists to arrive on Pern and how they set up on the unstable continent and started breeding the fire lizards into dragons.
What other series does she have and what would you recommend?
