First, let me provide a link to the story from the Daily Journal. www.djournal.com/pages/story.asp?ID=186731&pub=1&div=NewsNow what I find interesting is the very last sentence...allow me: "If you live long enough, you're going to be in somebody's city limits," Webb said. "This property is going to be used to build houses."
I cannot remember when, but didn't Mayor Webb voice his concerns about the Tupelo proposed annexation? TFADMIN

It does sound like Mr. Webb is acting strange. Just so Saltillo doesn't come over the bridge to get me, I'll be okay.

**ADDITIONAL UPDATE** It seems the developers are wasting no time getting started! Expect about 100 homes on the fast track! I've been through the area a few times where they are doing this work and yes, they need to fix the road promptly to handle all the additional traffic. It's nothing short of a mess! Another big concern is when all the young, new families that build these new houses get moved away and the houses get resold until it the new subdivision turns into a glorified project..
But at least the glorified project up the road from us enabled us to have DSL because of the population base! ;D

They want in for the water and sewer-and they won't pay much of the taxes anyway. If they want in they should pay up front. Soon the mayor will be gone, made his money, and the infrastructure is way overloaded. Then the Saltillo Sh--t wil be flowing down the creek to Tupelo.

I was reading a neighbors obituary in the Daily Journal today, according to them, Birmingham Ridge is a town???
Where is the city hall? Who's the mayor?
That's it, I declare myself the mayor of Birmingham Ridge, the city hall is a grain bin behind my house. Now I can sign off and get all those sweet LEO deals...! ;D

I looked back at that obit and it says "Birmingham Ridge Community." Says nothing about BR being a town.
Speaking of Saltillo, the only way it can expand is east and west. It can't go any further north because of Guntown. So far, there hasn't been any massive landgrabs among the smaller Lee County neighbors like there is in DeSoto County.
