When I went to school, That was along time ago. The schools provided in the elamentary part. Everything books pencils crayons paper etc. Now days you have to buy all that stuff yourself. Now when yo got to Jr and Sr high you had to start buying your own paper and pencils. which was part of growing up. But to go to school today wheather it be gradeschool or JR(Middle) or high. will cost a parent just about what itused to cost to go to collage. and don't even think about extracircular activities . No the days of free education are gone as the year of cheap gas pricies.

When the kids got home after their first day after Christmas break, they had lists of supplies they needed to supplement and replace what they used up the first semester. One of the girls came home the next day needing even more filler paper. We sent her to school with all the filler paper she needed on her list. Our daughter's teacher gave all her supplies to other kids so they could get through the week. Most of the kid's parents didn't bother to send anything with their kids, either they were too cheap or didn't get the note. We gave her some more, but told her that she had to keep it in her desk and not to give it to the teacher.
We are asked to supply paper towels, tissues, and even toilet paper. The teachers told us that they weren't supposed to ask for papertowels and toilet paper, but the school needed it.
We also have to supply snacks for the whole class once a month. Last year, Magnolia was buying a half case of snacks to send with Ellen because of deadbeat parents not sending snacks. Ellen's teacher told her to stop, the kids would have to do without so the deadbeats would hopefully come around.
They have a crazy meal schedule, they eat breakfast at 8, lunch at 10,most of our kids have their snack time at 1 or 1:30, but Ellen has her snack time at 9 and then lunch at 10:30.
Now it looks like we're going to need to buy uniforms, too. What a gip!

Spelling was my worst subject. ;D ;D but it's money, money, and more money. i thank God I'm through with all that now I had six Girls going to school at the same time. all graducated now and gone from the nest. I'm not rich and their Free education i think cost anywhere from $200,00-$300,00 for their years of free ed.

Last year I had a kindergartener and a senior to start the same time. The K and the senior nearly had to have the same amount of money spent on them. And first grade hasn't been any better. Every week send this or that.

I write my Congressmen at the state and federal level for all sorts of things; rights of privacy, gun control, technology issues, and education matters.
I also sign every petition that's put in front of me concerning school matters, especially the ones concerning budgetary needs. I just wish everyone did it, too. The silent majority is useless; without some sort of guidance, politicians are useless.
