you called me a liar for my opinion that disagreed with yours, which I will not stand for. Read the general forum rules. No one is wrong for their opinions or beliefs and not me, nor anyone else will be singled out for them. You have been warned and are pushing real hard.

Ok. Here's what I've seen in this whole, extremely long and cat-clawed thread:
The phrase "prayer is banned in public schools" means that prayer cannot be initiated by teachers or school officials within the public school systems. So, for all legal purposes, yes, it is banned.
My reason for saying that? Students in public schools (ie. state and federal funded k-12 institutions) are minors. Most laws don't apply to minors. And the ones that do are there to protect them.
Prayer can take place on school property, but ONLY if it is student led. In fact, most students limit this to programs such as "meet me at the flagpole" in which students meet before the beinning of the school day by the flag pole and pray.
The problems of this country's views on religion aren't going to be solved on some Internet forum. So, please. Just agree to disagree and move on with life. That's one of the great things about our country. We have the freedom to do so.
If you want to pray, do so. If you don't, then don't. But leave others to do what they want.

I called you a liar for saying prayer had been removed from the public schoool system because that statement it is a pure unadulterated lie.

No it isn't banned. Teacher initiated prayer or prayer led by government employees is unconstitutional.
Teachers/school officials can pray anytime they want just as students can, they just can't initiate prayer with students or lead them in saying prayer.

AHEM.....the next post after mine had better be related to the ORIGINATING TOPIC or this thread will be locked and then I will be very pissed.
I try to be fair and let everyone have a say, but it becomes a shouting match, some of you had better learn some respect and VERY FAST, or I will put a permanent end to it.
I mean it, this is the last time I will be giving a warning like this. It ends or heads start rolling. I have too much going on in my life (and I would hope some of you do to) than to sit here and WAGE WAR. Discussion and flaming rants are two different things.
In fact, if this does not stop, do not expect me to explain what the consequences are and why they are being handled the way they are. I got 10 IM's and 4 emails about this thread. We can AND WILL get along here.
Let me also add that everyone needs to check the Forum Rules under the Rule entitled "THREAD HIJACKING"

I called you a liar for telling the lie that prayer has been removed from the public school system. It's not illegal for students to pray. It's illegal for government to LEAD prayer and to teach Christainity at the exclusion of other religions. Sky, if the teachers can not pray in the public school system, then prayer has been removed for them from the public school system. Teachers do not give up their 1st amendment rights by going to work any more than Congressmen do, who pray in the Congress all of the time. Regardless of what modern treasonous courts have ruled as they make the Constitution mean what they want it to. The 1st amend says "Congress shall make no law respecting ....or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"- if she is prohibited from praying anyplace, anytime- then the free exercise of her religion has been prohibited. Understand? And may I add one more time that the public state schools are NOT the congress of the US. Please notice whose action this amendment limits. Do you suppose they meant public school teachers in MS when they said CONGRESS ?? And say what you will about how nobody but you understands Jefferson, but his quotes are his quotes. Along with all of the other founding Fathers of this Christian nation.
