"I'm willing to go so far as to say I'd rather not have a prayer said over the intercom at a football game. Back when that was the practice, I've heard a few go way too far with that, too. Once, in a little town in southwest Alabama, the prayer went on for ten minutes during which the pastor characterized those who weren't baptised by full immersion as unholy and offered an altar call in front of the concession stand. The altar call was okay, I guess, but who gives him the right to say whether a person is baptized or not? And to do so when he's acting as a representative of the school is to inject his own belief system on the entire school. You just can't do that."
this was written by a friend of mine on a different board. i incorrectly said "baptist preacher" in another thread (sorry, not a flame by no means, especially since i was raised baptist lol). still, i think it's a good point.
