According to the DJ, state rep. Jamie Franks is helping some members of the Dill family sue Walgreen's. It seems to me that this is a conflict of interest.
This was a terrible tragedy. But, there was miscommunication on all levels. Including, the family thinking Walgreen's could not fill the prescription because they could not honor Medicaid any longer. According to all of the press Medicaid was getting that would have been easy to get mixed up. Had the family known it was just the computer being down at the moment, I'm sure they would have waited. Of course, Walgreen's wasn't very clear on the problem either. But, that's not the point I'm trying to make.
My point is, I bet if Medicaid was not such a hot topic at the time (due to our state legislators' incompetence - including Jamie Franks) Mrs. Dill would have gotten her medicine that night. Instead the family walked out thinking Medicaid was no longer paying for drugs.

In a story in the dj it was stated that they were working on a medicaid prescription for one person yet when Ms Mae's family came in the computers were down. They keep saying (Walgreen's) that they didn't understand how sick she was because she didn't come in. My gosh when my husband has been sick i have been there to walgreen's and filled his medicine. Also at that time of night they should have known she just came from er.Why does a person get a prescription unless they are sick and need it. I know this family and yes it is a terrible tragedy. But it lays with the people working at walgreens not with the Dill family not understanding. The least they could have done was give her enough to get through the night but they didn't. As far as Mr Franks he has tried to get medicaid fixed for a while now. So in hindsight i can't see where he was incompetant at all. The Dill family was just a statistic to some but to Ms Mae's family her death was avoidable.

I agree, but from what I read about her medical condition and the medication prescribed, the doctors at the ER should be the ones liable, not Walgreen's. The medication she was prescribed, even had she had it filled that night, most likely would not have kept her alive. It was a long acting medicine that probably would not have prevented her death. She was in grave danger at the ER and should have been hospitalized if she had a life-threatening condition instead of being discharged.
