You are absoluetly right Granny. But, it is real easy for us to sit on the sidelines and judge this case. You and I both have views on these cases, and I'm sure they are different. I guess the only way for us to "really" know what happened is for us to have been there. Cases involving juveniles are really tough. For a child to spend the rest of their life in prison for a crime is tough to imagine. I guess we would have to be sitting on that jury to get the full effect of the evidence presented, and be the ones to decide whether or not they are guilty. All that I do know is something needs to be done. We cannot go on through life letting children kill and not get punished for doing it. Do you agree? I just would hate to know that a friend or family member of mine was killed by a kid who was 16 y/o. I am sure I would have some very mixed feeling on what should happen to that child. At least the Supreme Court has made it impossible to execute anyone under the age of 18 y/o when the crime was commited. But, I am not sure if that is a good idea. That just lets the "young thugs" know that they are safe from death when they commit a violent crime. Is that a good thing? Like I said, crimes commited by juveniles are a tough matter to deal with.

Gyro i can see your point and every case is diffrent. But i do believe that our Justice system needs a overhaul. These kids don't understand the law and when charged with something without benefit of counsel make statements that are used against them. I do think that some juveniles are violent. And i am unsure whether the death sentence should apply. But if they are guilty beyond a shadow of doubt then perhaps they should be.But i think all the facts need to be heard and then let a jury decide not just let what the Judges want to hear be heard. Granny, I do agree with you that judges have too much power. I have always thought that. I have seen cases where evidence was thrown out of just because a judge didn't think it should be admitted. For what reason, who knows. I'm not sure what (if anything) could make our justice system better.

Me either Gyro. I am not sure if it can be fixed, but something definitely needs to be done. I do think that every life is worth trying to save. I know we can't save them all, but I think an effort should be put forth to try. There are a lot of wrongs that need to be made right in our judicial system.
