In case yall haven't followed it, Lunsford was a 9 yr old girl in florida. her dad, which had custody, left the girl with the grandparents so he could spend the night with his girlfriend. a neighborhood sex offender got the 9 year old girl and killed her.
anyway, here's part of the article from the daily journal.
"This could happen about anywhere," said Kim Brown, an assistant district attorney in Lee County who works under a federal grant to prosecute crimes of violence to women and children. "People need to check the sex offender registration site and see who's living in their neighborhood."
Brown, 31, is the mother of three boys who range in age from 4 to 8 years. She advises parents to keep up with their children. Families, she said, need to ask questions.
what i find PATHETIC,
brown has moved her own kids into what many call a rough area of town in tupelo.
to top it off, she's been known to dump her kids off so she could stagger out the back door of local bars (basically the same thing this father did in florida). (and no, i'm not just posting hearsay on this).
I totally agree with what brown stated, it's just hard to hear that from a total hypocrite.

On this particular night, it seems to me that Jessica's Father was responsible enough to take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of his daughter before going out. He is entitled to have a personal life.
How many of us would assume that our child was safe in her own home accompanied by her grandparents? I know I would.
The blame should be placed solely on the pervert who took this beautiful child away from her family.

MM i agree. You would think that the child would have been safe with her g-parents. But with predators like that our children are never safe. We as parents have to be more vigilant now than we ever have.

I agree, and to take it one step further, can you trust what you read when you check the sex offender registery? NO. The Daily Journal just ran an article of irate people and neighbors who had their address posted as sex offenders, and it was actually from a guy who had lived there years ago.
