Don't forget the epic "Band of Brothers" based on Stephen Ambrose's book. That was as real as it could be, the actors interviewed and hung out with their real-life counterparts whenever possible and they took great care in making sure it was as accurate as possible. The episodes opened with interviews of the surviving men that were there.
