Anyone had any experience setting up a wireless router within a wired network where it can be used as an access point? It's a Windows DHCP network and the wireless router being added is a Belkin 802.11G. I've contacted Belkin about the problem, but their response time is slow. I think this can be done, even says so in the manual; they just don't have clear instructions. Any help will be appreciated!

What exactly is the problem you are having? Does the router itself have DHCP? If so, I would recommend you turn it off and let it pass the IP Addresses from the DHCP Server. Give me some more info, and I may can help.

The present wired router is acting as the DHCP server and the problem is -> the Belkin wireless router will not act as an access point. There is even a section in the manual about adding the Belkin wireless router as an access point to the existing network. Suggested adaptations don't seem to work. Why all this trouble? Needed use of wifi is quite a distance away from the present router and switch. There is a functional cable drop in the area the wireless router needs to reside. As a matter of fact there is a second switch present where the wireless router needs to be installed. The wireless router has been turned off as far as DHCP serving, but (light bulb inserted here!!!) the device IP will have to be inclusive in the present IP stack! Aha! Eureka! and gee golly whiz! Thanks TF Admin for kick starting my feeble mind!

The routers are now working and my 'user error' was overcome with your help. It is amazing how sometimes simple things become dizzy thru my overcomplicating. The router is a Belkin F5D7230-4 and can be found locally at several retailers at awesome prices. This is one of the easiest devices to install - I just made it hard. Thanks for a push in the right direction TF Admin
