I was watching television last week and came across a little Religious show show called GOD TV. They were talking about a book one of the hosts of the of the show, Wendy Alec, had written called "The Fall of Lucifer" and how it was but one part of a series of books she was writing called The Chronicles of Brothers.
It seemed interesting, and they were talking with people who had read the book, and of course they gave it high praises, I mean would they really interview anyone who hated it? Anyway, the premise seemed interesting, so I went to Books-A-Million and bought it.
Now, I'm not finished with it, about 80 or so pages to go, but I wanted to give my initial thoughts on it here.
This book is classified as Christian Fantasy. Don't let that scare you, the book does not preach. It is the story of three angelic brothers Lucifer, Michael, and Gabriel. These three brothers are the most beloved Angels God created. The most revered, and the most devoted to God.
They live in the dimension called The First Heaven and commune, walk with, and fellowship with The Almighty. Things are perfect until Lucifer, The Light Bearer, the shining one, becomes missive with God's plan to create a new species...man. He sees this as threat to himself and the Angelic Race as a whole, and that's when things turn ugly.
I won't go further into the story, as it would really spoil the fun of reading it yourself. It is obvious the author has done quite a bit of research on the subject, and tells the tale with a grand visionary flare that is truly remarkeable. This is the beginning of an epic tale, and according to the author on her show they are turning it into a screenplay. I would love to see this story on the silver screen, but I don't believe it will ever happen.
Their are a few missteps made by the author, particularly with dialogue, but it does not detract from the overall story itself. It is enchanting, fascinating, and eye opening at times.
The book is relatively short, but it is enthralling enough for a second reading, I can see that now before I even finish. If you get a chance, pick it up at BAM or go to the amazon link above and order it. It only takes a couple of days to read....check it out.
