My wife and I went to Ruby Tuesday tonight. In a word....GREAT!
We had their sampler appetizer platter. They have some of the best fried zuchinni sticks ever! I had a bacon cheeseburger....MMMMMM Burger was tasty and HUGE! My wife had her usual chicken strips.
Oh and I vote Ruby Tuesday as BEST SALAD BAR IN TUPELO! No one can touch that salad bar. Fresh greens and loads of extras!
Our server was new, but she was good, and I'm sure wittzo wants to know this...yes she was HOT! I think Ruby Tuesday has upped the ante on getting cute young girls to wait on tables. Outback was doing pretty good, but Ruby has definitely brought out the (pardon the upcoming pun) BIG GUNS!

WELL, I have not had good experiences at Ruby Tuesdays, nor have my Grandparents, Parents, or Wittzo & his wife. Wittzo might be able to tell you his horror story. Last time I went to RT was with Admin & his wife a long while back.

I miss their salad bar but I don't want to have to wait 15 minutes to be seated when there is no one in line. I don't want to have to wait a half hour before I see ANYONE working there so I can ask for more tea. I don't want to wait 45 minutes for my food. It goes on and on..they were having a bad day that day, I overheard two other tables send their food back and one of them got double billed..All the kitchen manager had to say was ,"Sorry dude, we must have dropped the ball." I complained to our server about how long she left us with empty glasses and how the order got messed up. She had even verified it for me twice to make sure she got it right. She snapped at me,"This is my first night to work alone...sir!" I asked her to get a manager. The manager I talked to said that dinner was going to be on him, but he didn't apologize, he just made excuses for everybody. He said,"This was your server's first night alone. You're not the first person to complain, I guess she's not ready to work by herself yet." We were there about 3 hours. I don't know why we put up with it, I guess it was because it was during out phase of getting cr*ppy service from everyone. The sad thing is that Wendy's was the only place that gave good service during this phase..Until the last few months, now they are lack luster like everywhere else..
Olive Garden is my place along with O'Charley's but only the smoking area when Mack or Yoyo are working the bar, non-smoking, forget about it.

My experience has always been the SMOKING section of any place gets better service than the non-smoking area. An anomaly, I'm sure. Smoke em if ya got em.

My brother used to work at Ruby Tuesday. That's why I refuse to eat there. I know what they do in the kitchen. I know how vindictive the waitstaff can be when you complain or, hell, even ask for something that makes them go out of their way. Problem is that RT only hires the Ambercrombie and Fitch type (As my brother says) who (and this is pure opinion) are selfish, snot nosed little brats that are only working because mommy and daddy made them get a job so they didn't look totally spoiled. Again, this is purely an opinion.
As for a RT horror story. My mother decided to take my wife (Then g/f) and I there for dinner since my brother was working and she could use his discount. My brother was a waiter but we weren't seated in his section. We were seated in the section of one of the newer waiters. He did a fine job, actually, a little slow but not bad at all. My brother walked over occasionally to ask how he was doing (My brother was the one who trained him). The problem was actually the food. My wife will get physically ill if there's anything besides bread, meat and cheese on her buger. She ordered her buger plain, as she always does. The server had it right. When he brough it out it had mayo on it. She sent it back. When the kitchen sent it back out to the table they had just taken the top bun off, scraped the mayo off and put it back together. My wife sent it back again. This time the manager came out to ask what was wrong with it. She told him the whole story and he shrugged and said 'Sorry, it would be a waste of food to remake it from scratch just because you don't like Mayo. We scraped it off.' That's when my wife lost it. She told him that she was allergic to mayo and that the slightest amount could, potentially, kill her. To make a long story short... she got a free burger that day and my brother got a promotion to shift manager. =)

I love RT. The atmosphere is always so cozy and their steak is to die for! We go there every year for Valentine's Day as long as they have been in Tupelo. It's a tradition.

When I've been there, usually in the evening, the food has been great, but the service has been pretty uneven, at best. The one consistent element is that the wait staff feel thoroughly inconvenienced to have to, um, wait on customers.
Weird, huh?
As far as the salad bar, TFAdmin is SO RIGHT!!! Best salad bar in Tupelo. When it's stocked. Sometimes the staff don't feel motivated to refill the lettuce, stuff like that.
On a scale of one to ten, I'd give Ruby Tuesday a five. The food's probably an 8.5, maybe better. The serving staff is considerably less.

I have eaten @ Ruby Tuesday's several. times. But, every time I eat there, the food is Some what O.K., but the service is awful! Their salad bar is good, as long as it is stocked, which most of the time it isn't.

Let me pipe in here. My wife and I went to Ruby Tuesday's Saturday Night. The food was great, I had the New Orleans Seafood dish and my wife had a Ribeye. Again, our food was fantastic, but the service was absolutely aweful. The waiter even admitted he was terrible at...well..waiting. He passed my empty tea glass by (10 TIMES) and I noted that he looked at it each time. He then asked us if we needed anything else and if we needed our check? I told him that we have not been served our entree AND he passed my table 10 times without offering to fill my tea glass. And this started the whole "Well,I was an electrician, but I'm going back to school...blah...blah....blah" Just fill the glass, bring our food, we will pay and be gone.
I don't think I have ever had such poor service in a restaurant. Grim always says, complain to a manager. So I get a free dinner, big deal. I don't want a free meal. I wrote a nice little email to their corporate website instructing them to fix the problem and not to contact me for any reason. I also alerted them that I would be writing up a scathing review on the intrent for people in our community to read and respond. They could care less I'm sure, but I'm officially boycotting Ruby Tuesday's for one year.
It wouldn't be so bad but the other couples in front and behind us were also getting poor service by two different waitresses. Oh well.... they won't see any more of my money for at least 12 months.

I won't eat at the RT in Tupelo because, well, my daughter worked there for a while and, like someone else said, tipped me off on what goes on in the kitchen.
I like your idea of a personal boycott, TF. I'm that way myself. I'm boycotting Applebee's for life after several bad experiences at different locations and one really bad experience in Southhaven. Like you I wrote a stinging letter to corporate and told them to just fix the problem and don't contact me. I told them point-blank NOT to send me any coupons for a free meal or discounts because I would never, ever eat in one of their resturants again.
They sent me a form letter thanking me for eating at Applebee's and enclosed a coupon for a free meal.

Well, TF Admin, I just want you to know that I blame you.
I was fine. I had NO desire to go to Ruby Tuesday. I've had no desire to go there since the last time I went there, and the service was awful. But then you, TF Admin, had to go and bring up Ruby Tuesday, and my poor little brain has been fixated on "salad bar" ever since. (Think Homer Simpson fixated on beer, and you'll have the picture.) It's ALL your fault!!!
So, against my better judgment and various R.T. experiences, I went there for a late lunch today with a friend.
It was roughly 1 p.m., maybe a little after. We stood there for the better part of ten minutes, waiting for a hostess to seat us, even though the place wasn't crowded at all, and no one was in line ahead of us (or behind us, for that matter). We finally got seated, and then we waited another five to seven minutes for a server to come up and take our drink orders. After that, we trundled off to the salad bar and made pigs of ourselves.
Our section had two active tables, including ours, plus a third table that was apparently waiting for their check. Our server couldn't even keep our drinks filled, and the couple at the third table were still waiting for their check after we'd been seated twenty minutes.
Long story short, we saw our server twice: once when she took our drink orders, and again when she delivered our check. My meal was nine dollars and change, and all I had was a ten and a five, so I needed change for her tip, but we never saw the server again, or any other server, so guess what? Her tip was the twenty cents or so that was left after I paid with the ten. (I wasn't about to give her a five dollar tip on a nine dollar meal.)
My salad was good, but dang it, I'm sick of rotten service. I'm with you, TF Admin (even though this is technically all your fault anyway), and I'm boycotting Ruby Tuesday. I'm not even setting a time limit of a year. I'm just going to wait until I hear that the management has changed, and that the service is noticeably improved. And I'm going to have to hear it from a LOT of people before I even consider setting foot in there again.
