To help Pontotocmom out I started a thread on Barnhills. The one in Columbus is alright I've been to better but the catfish and fried chicken is really good. Now everybody tell us what you think about Barnhills.

I'm sort of scared to eat at the one in Tupelo. Until all the restaurants came North, I would be dragged there for various holidays by my parents..It was nasty, it looked like there had been a food fight with food all over the floors, they didn't even try to clean up anything unless hey had to.
The food is good, but if they don't care about the main floor of the restaurant, i hate to think about the conditions in the kitchen..

Barnhill's is one of the few restaurants that failed Dept. of Health Inspections about a year ago. Considering how many hole-in-the-wall convenience stores pass, makes you wonder how bad Barnhill's must be.

It's kind of hard to miss when you have to brush fried okra off your table and you nearly slip in mashed taters on the carpet, yuchh!

Thanks Beastmanjack! Well, here goes... In February for one of our childrens birthday she wanted to go to Barnshill. So here we go. There was two adults and six children, which I know seems like a crowd to most. We get there and stand in line for our turn to go in. We get to the place where you pay and the hostess says there aren't any tables ready. Well you can see some tables but yes they are dirty. So we wait and wait. 45 minutes later I ask the birthday girl "Are you sure you want to eat here?" She says yes. I ask the waitress when they were going to clean some tables? She leaves and comes back and says soon. (We have paid) So we stand blocking traffic thru the restruant. The hostess then says "If you hadn't had so many in your party we could set you easier" I look at her and ask well who standing here doesn't look hungry? Pick the one who we should of left home. She looks at me like I'm retarded. I tell her we don't have to set together. That three of the children could set anywhere she could find a spot for them they were teenagers. And she says no I "found" a table. So now we have been there after we paid one hour and 22 minutes (yes I was counting) we set down way at the back were they scrap the food off in containers. I never said a word. We (the adults) go with the little ones to get their food. The oldest three get theirs all of us get back and set down to eat. One of the people cleaning plates out slings the plate toward our table and get strawberry ice cream all over the back of the birthday girl. It is in her hair, clothes and even on her backside. She isn't happy and starts crying. The girl that did it brought a dirty rag to get it off. I told her to get me a clean rag and I got it off. And the people back there start to complain that the hostess knows not to set people that close. I turn around and tell the waitress to go get the manager and she brings the snotty hostess. I ask her are you the manager and she says no she is the hostess but could take care of the problem. And I told her no she couldn't from where I was sittting she started the problem and I wanted a real manager it was his/her job to listen to complaints. She flips my card over from where I ordered and said write it on here and I'll give it to the manager. I looked at her like she was retarded then. I sat there then got up and went to the door by the buffet and told the little fellow standing there I needed the manager and I wanted him pretty quick. He came right out. I told him about the hour and 22 minutes, the ice cream, and the rudeness and stupidity of his workers. (I admit I went overboard) He says I'm sorry your visit hasn't been pleasant but we are doing the best we can. And turns around and starts to trot himself back into the kitchen. I had not raised my voice until then and then I did I scream across the restruant I'm not finished talking to you. I take the ice cream rag and the dirty rag that is left at the table and told him since he didn't know how to do his job the least he could do is take the dirty linen with him and I plopped it in his arms. That left over ice cream wasn't thru he was splattered all over his white shirt and I looked at him and said "I'm sorry your visit with me hasn't been pleasant" And I'll never come back here to eat and if he really wanted improvement of the resruant to clean the floor and tables. The place was a disgrace. And in case he went blind I latched upon his arm and pointed out where it was dirty. Then we left. I wasn't happy. Our little girl was... They sang to her!

(I admit I went overboard) No you didn't not at all. I hate that they make you pay first, then you're stuck. I would have demanded a refund a half hour into it and helped the birthday girl change her mind. I nominate this statement as the quote of the month! Awesome! You are a true artist!

WOW pontotocmom! that was great! Yeah, Barnhills is one nasty place. I made a comment on the ticket one time how they needed to clean up the place. You can go to Logans or somewhere like that for a nicer meal for almost the same price you pay at Barnhills.
One time I heard the workers complaining about the customers in front of the customers!

Glad I could help you Pontotocmom. You have alot more patients than I do. I would probably have either demanded a full refund and the mananager and I would have had alot to say to one another and I don't care who hears it weather it be the other customers or not. I would 've got my pound of flesh. By the way did you try and go to their Web site and complain to their headquaters(sp) I have a hard time putting a link to the sitr but it is barnhillsbuffet.com the scroll down to customer support and click on it will take you to their customer service. I talked to them and they would like to hear from you and if you could give them the managers name. They would love to have a conversation with him I told them the Barhills you said it was they said they would check it our but need to hear from you.

I AGREE HIGHLY with Beastmanjack, contact Barnhills about the matter. Look at what I am doing in reguards to Applebee's. Just be calm, ,explain what happened, tell them if they need witness, that you can provide them. That was uncalled for what happened to you.
