Anyone have a good recommendation on a local Appliance Repair company? Specifically a dryer....
Thanks in advance!

I always repair my own stuff and may be able to tell you how to fix it yourself. What's wrong with it?

cool, maybe you can tell me what's wrong with my dryer. It makes a hidious squealing sound that drives me nuts. It starts soon after you turn it on and don't stop till you turn it off. It dries great, just squeaks loud enough for the neighbors to hear.

It dries great, just squeaks loud enough for the neighbors to hear. My dryer started doing that and I let it go until it finally wouldn't start under its own power (I had to reach in and spin the tub to get it going). So, being the cheapie I am, I tore into it and found that the bushing which supports the rear of the tub had worn completely through and the tub shaft was riding on the metal frame and had finally cut far enough down into it that it put the tub in a bind. So, still being a cheapie, I just unbolted the bushing and rotated it 180 degrees so the worn-through part was on the top. It ran without squeaking for several more months until the shaft finally broke and finished it off. The shaft, I didn't mention, was cut almost completely through where it had been riding on the frame. Had I got off my tail and rotated that bushing when it first started squeaking I might've got another 10 years out of it.

King Rat's got it right. Sounds like you have a bad bushing. They're not hard to replace though you may need to remove the existing bushing and take it with you to a parts store to ensure you have the right one. I would also make sure you take the model number and make of the drying with you.

This is all AWESOME information. Granny that is crazy about your problems because that is the same exact issue we are having with out dryer! lol! small world!!!! It is driving me crazy...that squeak/screech is so annoying! My husband is pretty handy so I am going to pass this info along to him and see if he can nip this problem in the bud. Thanks for the info, y'all are just great!

If they would just put a bearing in place of the bushing a clothes dryer might just last forever.
