The following may, or may-not be completely accurate? Yesterday, while discussing the Lee/Tupelo jail with friends, the subject of the jail's nurse came-up. One of my cohorts stated, "some months ago, an old man with acute heart failure was arrested for striking his wife. While incarcerated over 48 hours, the so-called compassionate nurse, refused to allow the old man his heart medication. As a result the old man is now bed-ridden" Accurate or not, I had heard this story before. Not in as much detail, only that, "The nurse at the jail refused to give an old man with heart trouble, his pills"

I can believe that with all certainty. I can tell you horror stories of the "jailhouse" nurse/ wantabee doctor and the danger she has put human life in. Several years ago a man was arrested and she refused his meds. Her excuse? She felt he was guilty and was going to Parchman, so she elected to discontinue his meds. Problem was the med he was on was not one that could be stopped cold turkey and it was life sustaining to the man.
Just in the last month or two the nurse failed to allow treatment for a broken hand of a young inmate for over two weeks. It was only after the family got ahold of the sheriff personally was he taken to the doctor.

I sent these threads to Mr. Hill of Tupelo's Council. But I doubt anything will be done about that "gordo cerdo" who calls her self a nurse.
