Hello one and all! I haven't posted on here in ages. I moved to New York! Anyway, I was reading the Daily Journal forums the other day to see what was happening back home and then today I noticed they were gone. I knew TF would know the skinny and I see I was right.
I will be moving back to TUPELO in 3 weeks. Gotta get packing now!

Patty, that's not going to happen. Between myself and the mods here, we'll keep things in line.
FBOM, wondered what happened to you! Glad to know you're coming back. I need your graphical expertise on a little project I'm working on!

I understand that somebody signed up and posted an officer's name on that thread, implying that it was one of the posters. I do not know if this was the reason for the forums closing down or not. There seemed to be a lot of fussing on the forums. Maybe Mr. Pepper just got tired of it all or maybe the forums were forced off by the powers that be. Think we will ever know?

I think you will find Tf is very fair. As long as they stick to facts all will go well.

I have been away from Tupelo for some time, and didn't know anything was up with the dj.com forums untill I logged-on, or tried. After reading these threads, and making a few calls, it does seem that a Tupelo policeman was named. It also seems, (To Me) that clossing the entire forum was a little much. I do agree that some over on the dj forums got out-of-hand with the words they used, but don't agree with some-one trying to remove free speach. If that speach is civil.

What's really wierd is the number people still trying to login over there. I guess it's hard to let go. Censorship does suck. And when you have local paper that's supposed to tell what's going on and fails to report on concrete bulletproof factual info, well, then you know you're in trouble.
The credibility of the Daily Journal is in the toilet swirling around the hole. If you believe what they print, everything is fine in the City of Tupelo. Birds are singing, children are playing, there's nothing but goodness. What a joke.
I'm in New York, and I can see that from here!
As I just read by Smilin Jack Ruby.... to Serve God and Mankind...Indeed! ;D

I just checked over at DJournal.com and you are right FBOM, there are still a ton of people trying to log into the forum. That tells me word has not circulated about this site. Please let others know we are here and available. Spread the word, our doors are open!

Thanks for the heads up CROW!
It does appear the Djournal forums are coming back online probably as soon as this weekend, according to a statement on the Forums by Bobby Pepper. This is great news for everyone.

I was sent an email from someone I won't name, but they gave me permission to post it. I think this is a suitable thread since it does kinda have to do with the topic at hand:
TFADMIN,
What is the difference between your forum and the DJournal's? I mean, both sites cover the same topics, and you carry some of their news stories on your front page.
Now that they have shut down, I see you are trying to take advantage of the situation by soliciting members from over there to become members of your site. Are you that desperate?
Kind of a scathing email. But I felt like I should post this here and this person gave me permission, and now allow me to post my responding email:
XXXXXXXXXXXXX,
Allow me to numerically respond to your email:
1. We are not tied to any corporation or business. I run this forum. I use my own money to pay for amenities that I and members here get to use and share.
2. We have several moderators for our discussion areas. They do one helluva good job and I know they are going to take care of things if I am absent any length of time.
3. We are much smaller and that makes things a bit more intimate here. I find that arguments made here are a little more thought out and that means people like posting here and they take their time doing it. There's not a lot of "off the cuff" remarks.
4. I solicited for people to tell displaced DJournal forum members about us and to drop by. Why can't people be a member of both forums? This isn't 2nd grade playground time. We have several members here who are also members at DJournal. I don't see a problem.
5. I carry an RSS Feed gathered from Yahoo news. It is set to pick up on ANY news stories with the word "Tupelo" in them from thousands and thousands of online news sites. Note there are stories from the Clarion Ledger, WCBI, WREG, the Sentinel, and many other news sites. Sometimes you will see duplicates of the same story from different sites. The idea is that sometimes you get more or different information than what you may read at DJournal.com. Tupeloforums is not a news organization, and I have no desire to be that, but some of our members like getting the story from different angles, plus it's convenient to have it all at one place.
6. Bobby Pepper works for the DJournal...I work for me. I have emailed him a couple of times and he was kind enough to provide me with an official statement on what was happening at DJournal.com This is not the big high school rivalry your tone is indicative of, in your email.
7. Our little forum here has been really slow over the last several months. The events of the past week have been a big boost to the traffic here. Much of that traffic is people wanting to be heard and to find out what is going on. That's why we're here, that's the purpose of this site.
8. It looks like the DJournal.com forum is NOT shutting down and could be back in operation this coming weekend. Read what I am about to say very carefully:
I AM GLAD!
Again, this is not grade school. Both forums can and have been coexisting for over a year.
I hope this answers your questions, and although I was being a little tongue-in-cheek with my response, I thank you for sending me your email, but please understand, this is not a competition and you really can be a member at both, it won't hurt, I promise.

Hmmmm, what does Pope Wittzomaniack the First think of this email? His replies are in red, the way it should be. I was sent an email from someone I won't name, but they gave me permission to post it. I concur with TFAdmin, a newsbot sets it up. It's not our fault that the Daily Urinal can't stop feeding off AP's teat and come up with original stories. Now that they have shut down, I see you are trying to take advantage of the situation by soliciting members from over there to become members of your site. Are you that desperate? The djournal forums have been around for a loooong time, they are the big dawgs, we are the new pups. If Gloster St. was shut down to traffic for costruction, everyone would detour for a while so they can get where they need to go. Some people will use Gloster when it re-opens and never take the alternate route again but some will like the new route and stick to it. Others will take both depending on their mood. We are the alternate route. Kind of a scathing email. But I felt like I should post this here and this person gave me permission, and now allow me to post my responding email: XXXXXXXXXXXXX, Allow me to numerically respond to your email: 1. I find that arguments made here are a little more thought out and that means people like posting here and they take their time doing it. There's not a lot of "off the cuff" remarks. Yeah ;D4.
