Whether you think they did it or not is not even the issue. The issue at hand is that there was not enough evidence for them to be convicted. Not much aside from reading Stephen King books (I do as well), owning Wicca books (I do), and listening to Metallica (well, I like Black Album and previous). Things like this make me worry that it's only a matter of time for this type of situation happens to a friend or loved one of mine just because they are "weird".

As for the WM3, i've always believed in their innocence. I'm happy to see celebrities joining in that belief..such as Johnny Depp.
West memphis arrested those boys with no evidence..simply because they dressed in black and listened to heavy metal music and bucked what society deemed as normal.
It's the worst injustice i've seen in this country to date...well,up until the smoking ban.*lights up* lolz

I do hope you are wrong peas. I do not know whether or not they are innocent or not, but I do know they were railroaded with a phony Mickey-Mouse type of court. There was no evidence to convict them, and when our courts take it upon themselves to convict a person with no evidence, a grave injustice is done to all. That is someone's child, someone's brother, someone's friend who did not have a chance in that court room.

They also didn't have a family. Those kids, who I personally think they were guilty, didn't have any kind of family life. But I also think an adult was in on it too. I have read about everything and I hate to say it but Damien is/was his own worse enemy. I remember very well when they were going to court and his gestures was enough to convict him.

I was a "weird" kid growing up in pontotoc..the very first "goth" kid in my town. I never broke a law,yet i was kicked out of school,and even after that,the cops came to my house and questioned me when someone stole the baby jesus from the manger scene on the court square and wrote satanic symbols on it and hung it from the school flagpole.
JUST because i wore all black and LOOKED different,i was automatically guilty.

I feel for damien and the others. I'll never believe they killed those kids. That was the work of an adult pedophile. Justice should be found for those little boys. Based on evidence,not hearsay.

I agree. These kids need to be convicted on EVIDENCE not heresay and not guilt by association. That is the way our judicial system is designed and it flawed and let these kids down. GIVE THEM A TRIAL, a real trial, not a mickey-mouse trial.

I recommend to everyone, if you haven't already, to watch the documentaries. If you're only going to watch one of them however, I actually recommend the 2nd one (Paradise Lost: Revelations) because it recaps a lot of things from the first and also adds updates and is a bit more thorough.

I've heard that Devil's Knot is the best place to start if you want to go the book route. I plan on someday reading that and probably Damien's book as well.

When I first heard about the case myself, I felt like a lot of you do...horrified at such an ugly crime done by these teens to these innocent kids. But upon watching the 1st documentary and then looking at all the evidence files on the internet and such, I feel a lot different. Years later, I feel so strongly about it that I've given to the defense fund several times and am constantly doing anything I can to make people more aware. As I've said a million times before, it's not an issue of whether or not they did it- I was not there and can not say. HOWEVER, the whole town pinned it on these kids with no real evidence just because they were WEIRD. And finding 3 teenagers guilty of a horrific crime with no evidence is a crime in and of itself.

Damien is on death row and I pray for him as often as I can that he may get out before it's too late. It's just a sad tale all around as I feel for all the families involved; of children and of the 3 that sit in jail when in all probability a killer roams free.

I do not really know if the WM3 is guilty or not. That being said, I believe that if this trial was a mickey-mouse trial like people are saying, then another trial is warranted. People do not realize that just because something is in the norm today, does not mean that what is normal today will not be demonized tomorrow. We live in a very fickle society. If being different such as dressing different, looking different, liking different things out of the norm is not being served justice, then it could backlash on the so-called normal people one day.

It wasn't that they looked different. Didn't Miskelly confess? Or whatever his name was? I believe people should be different. Gothic doesn't bother me and has never bothered me. My kids have a friend that is gothic, and she is a wonderful girl. I know from reading that these kids had problems already. And I do think an adult was the head person to all of this. If they are innocent yes they should get another trial. But I hope they do have the right ones.

As for Misskelly's "confession", here is the explanation straight from the official site:

"Shortly after three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas, local newspapers stated the killers had been caught. The police assured the public that the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. Evidence?

The same police officers coerced an error-filled �confession� from Jessie Misskelley Jr., who is mentally handicapped. They subjected him to 12 hours of questioning without counsel or parental consent, audio-taping only two fragments totaling 46 minutes. Jessie recanted it that evening, but it was too late� Misskelley, Jason Baldwin and Damien Echols were all arrested on June 3, 1993, and convicted of murder in early 1994.

Although there was no physical evidence, murder weapon, motive, or connection to the victims, the prosecution pathetically resorted to presenting black hair and clothing, heavy metal t-shirts, and Stephen King novels as proof that the boys were sacrificed in a satanic cult ritual. Unfathomably, Echols was sentenced to death, Baldwin received life without parole, and Misskelley got life plus 40.

For over 13 years, The West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for crimes they didn�t commit. Echols waits in solitary confinement for the lethal injection our tax dollars will pay for. They were all condemned by their poverty, incompetent defense, satanic panic and a rush to judgment.

But there�s still hope for them, and you can help."

the so-called documentaries are biased at best......were any of you supporters of these 3 killers at the trials?.....if not, shut the hell up!....you have only seen one side of the story....
