Charles Rangle (D-NY), who would suddenly become a big dog if the dems win the House this fall, has vowed to stop funding for the war in Iraq if they win the House.
Can you imagine the celebrations in the terrorist camps when they read that? What he is telling Osama is, "Hold on a bit longer and I'll do all I can to help you defeat us."
Will YOU help them win back the House with your vote?

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) will chair the House Homeland Security Committee come January and said today that the democrats with "revisit" the 700 mile border fence congress passed (and Bush signed) a few weeks ago. Thompson said it is likely the law requiring the fence to be built on the border with Mexico will be "scrapped".
Did you vote to put these people in power?

i certainly hope the govt "scraps" this idea.
why spend tons of money on a fence that wouldn't come close to keeping IIs out of the country. here's an idea, when we catch an II, DEPORT them. when we catch businesses employing IIs, fine the hey diddle diddle out of them.
this "wall" idea was a huge waste of money imo.

on iraq... most dems seem to have the opinion of "get out". hey, i'd love to just "get out" and not spend another dime (much less a life) over there... BUT, just leaving is a horrible idea. if iraq isn't somewhat stable when we leave, someone like bin laden would be happy to take the country over and we're back to square one.

Since Benny Thompson is the representative for the second district, the answer would have to be no.

The fence isn't just to keep out the illegals - it is to help stop some of the drug flow into this country. More importantly, it is a symbol of our intent to protect our border. Mexico hated it. The UN hated it. Drug lords hated it. That tells me it would be effective. The truth of the matter is that we are NOT going to deport them and Bush is not going to make any attempt to stop them with poliitcal solutions - just the opposite, he invites them in with promise of amnesty. Will 700 miles of fence fix the border problem? No, but it will fix 700 miles of it.

I cant speak for the fence deal because I have not seen the area nor do I have any idea what the fence will look like? Something must be working a little tho, I heard a day or so ago that 20,000 illegals have been caught and returned since June in a section where surveillance equipement has been installed. Maybe not the best, but better than nothing.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) vowed today to start "very long and exhaustive" senate hearings on global warming and promised legislation that addresses ALL sources for greenhouse gases. She cited California's tough environmental regulations as a "good role model" for federal laws.
"All sources" would have to include cows burping and farting as scientists have claimed these two "sources" contribute to the rise in earth's temperature.
And with today's confirmation that Trent "bend over and take all the democrats can give" Lott will be the new minority whip in the senate you can bet any republican opposition will be impotent.
The UN is holding a "think tank" on global warming but, according to the AP, anyone who voices an opinion that global warming is not destroying the earth is immediately vilified until they fall silent. So the "think-tank" is not about honest discussion of ideas (a thought preposterous to liberals) but a "me-too" feel-good session.
Even according to the scientists who believe the earth is turning into hellfire, there has only been a 0.6 degree celsius rise in the last 100 years - which can easily be explained away simply by taking into account the accurancy of instruments recording the temperature over the past 100 years.
Global warming is bunk. Hogwash dressed up as science. Nothing more than a "the sky is falling" excuse for world domination by the UN. When I was a kid the sun was buring itself up and it was "scientific fact" that the earth would evenutally become a frozen wasteland. So, if you really believe the scientists, we NEED greenhouse gases to reduce the ozone to let in more sunlight to make up for the reduced effect of the sun upon the earth as that great ball of gas uses up its fuel source.

Here is another recent example of the bipartisanship the democrats have planned now that they are in power:
Nov 15, 2006
Congressman Kucinich called Wednesday for cutting off funding of the Iraq war, as the surest way out of Iraq. His statements were made in an interview by Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman.
"I want to say that there's one solution here, and it's not to engage in a debate with the President, who has taken us down a path of disaster in Iraq, but it's for Congress to assume the full power that it has under the Constitution to cut off funds. We don't need to keep indulging in this debate about what to do, because as long as we keep temporizing, the situation gets worse in Iraq.
"We have to determine that the time has come to cut off funds. There’s enough money in the pipeline to achieve the orderly withdrawal that Senator McGovern is talking about. But cut off funds, we must. That's the ultimate power of the Congress, the power of the purse. That's how we'll end this war, and that’s the only way we’re going to end this war.
"We need to shift our direction."
"We have to take a whole new approach. We’re spending over $400 billion a year, money that's also needed for healthcare, for education, for job creation, for seniors. We have to take a new look at this. We need to be a strong country, but strength isn't only military. Strength is also the economic strength of the people, their chance to have good neighborhoods. We spend more money than all the countries of the world put together for the military.
"It's time for us to start to shift our vision about who we are as a nation, because if we don't do that -- we’re borrowing money right now to wage the war in Iraq. We’re borrowing money from China. We’re not looking at our trade deficit. We’re not looking at conditions, where people are going bankrupt trying to pay their hospital bills. We need to shift our direction, and the direction has to be away from the continued militarization of the United States society."

I just heard a real shocker on the radio: Jack Murtha was overwhelmingly defeated today in his bid for the #2 spot in the House just hours after he announced that he had the votes to win. This was an embarrassing upset for Nancy Pelosi (though she was elected Speaker) because she threw her full support behind the troop-hating loud-mouthed Murtha. The man elected to the #2 spot has a long-standing rivalery with Pelosi.

One promise the dems consistently and dramatically made during the campaign to take over congress was that, should they win, they would implement FULLY the suggestions of the 911 commission during the first 100 days. And they won. So we can expect the suggestions of the 911 commission to be FULLY implemented now, right? Well, not so fast. The dems are backing away from that promise, saying it might not be wise at this time to FULLY implement those suggestions.........
Raise your hand if you are shocked that the dems so quickly disavow a major campaign promise......
Raise your hand if you actually thought the dems were telling voters what they really want to do with their power......
