My family used to go eat breakfast every Sunday at my great grandmothers house before she passed away many years ago. She always made chocolate gravy every time. I loved that stuff. Now that I have a family of my own I'm looking for a true chocolate gravy recipe to use for my family. Any of you here make this?
Thanks!

My grandma used to make this. I'll see if I can get her recipe and put it here for you absynith.

I make it with cocoa, sugar and flour and it tastes a lot like Maamaw's but of course can't be as good.

I make mine in a 3 qt pot with 2 T.of cocoa and 2 T. of flour and 1 cup of sugar. I then stir the 3 real well before I add the water. I only add about 1 and half qt. of water. I cook it on a low burner till it gets to the thickness that I want.

Man, that stuff sure was good with homemade biscuits, bologna and eggs. My mom made it for us all the time but her recipe used "pinches" and "little bits". I finally figured out to make it exactly like hers. My recipe is:
1 heaping tablespoon of Hershey's cocoa 2 heaping tablespoons of flour 3 heaping tablespoons of sugar
mix all that together until it is a fine powder (you've gota get the lumps out before you add water).
add 2 cups of water and cook it on low. Stir it constantly (very important) until the bubbles start bursting then remove from heat and allow it to thicken for a few minutes. Eat it quick or it will get way too thick.

My grands are going to be here in the morning, I am going to try it that way. That is easy enough that even I can remember it. Just remember 1, 2, 3.
