It's 50 bucks and can be usually found at BestBuy, Wal-Mart, etc. There is NO monthly fee and you can play using a dial up connection. The name of the game is Guild Wars. It's been out for a while and several people in this area are online and participating. One guild, Kudzu Dragons, has several members that are local residents. This is a ton of fun. If you are a busy person, be careful. Time gets away from you when in this beautifully rendered world of fantasy. Anyone else participating? www.guildwars.com

I've heard of it... but after Ultima Online I've sworn an oath to never get involved in another MMORPG again.
Though, I guess, the MUSH I play on could be considered an MMORPG... AmberMUSH incase anyone is curious.

I am trying out EVE ONLINE. After two days, it seems to be a friggin blast. Talk about beautiful graphics....I mean....wow! It's a space trading game in the vein of the old starflight/Star cONTROL GAMES. The game is free to download and it looks like it's about 13 bucks a month. They can have as many as 17,000 players on ONE server with no slowdown...that is cool.

I played guild wars for a bit. My hubby still plays every now and then. It was pretty cool. I am hooked on World of Warcraft. I didn't think anything would replace Everquest, but WOW is awesome.

I want to try out Guildwars and EVE sounds really interesting. I want to play RPG's but the whole fun of P'n'P RPG's (Pen and Paper ,i.e. Dungeons and Dragons, Star Frontiers) was interacting with real people. You can't get that with RPG's.
Having seen friends hooked on MMORPG's, even to the point that they ignore me and other guests when they are at their homes, I am reluctant. I know lots of guys here at the store who play Guildwars when they aren't playing Battlefield 2.
EDIT: I just started downloading the 519 MB client for EVE and started to sign up but it's now $19.95 a month to play...Thinking, thinking!
