I know Invision power boards, and phpbb, have code that can be added that places a "view New Posts" button and link in the navigation at the top of the page. Most boards support that. I find it to be very nice to go to a forum board homepage and just simply click that button and all the new posts made since my last visit pop up in a new window. Very convinient, and allows to browse through them with just one click.
If you want to try and add it, holler and I will help ya find the code.

Actually, there are two ways to view new posts since your last visit. One is when you are finished viewing, at the very bottom of the forum listings and just above Forum Statistics, there is a "Mark As Read" button on the far right. CLick that and on your next visit, on each board to the left, you will see a "New" graphic, or an "Old" graphic. New represents new postings since your last visit.
At the very bottom of the main page, under FORUM STATISTICS, there is a link entitled "View the 20 most recent posts of this forum." Clicking that will show you the last 20 posts made. That should help you out. If I can come up with something different, I will let you know here.
