OCALA, Fla. --A 42-year-old woman was recovering Wednesday from a snake bite in Ocala.
Officials said the customer was shopping for plants at a Lowe's Home Improvement store Tuesday, when she noticed a stinging feeling in her leg. Medics discovered she had been bitten twice on the right shin.
Employees killed the one-foot-long dusky pygmy rattlesnake with a yard tool. The snake is one of six poisonous varieties native to Florida.
Lowe's spokeswoman Karen Cobb said it was not clear where the snake came from. She said store employees scoured the area, but found no other snakes, and the company wasn't aware of anything similar happening in Lowe's before.
