I have had Cingular cell service for over 3 years and normally enjoyed good service at compariable rates, but I have gotten so frustrated today I could scream. I have 3 lines on my plan and all three are eligible for upgrades. I decided I wanted a razor phone so called to upgrade, and the only way I can get a free phone is to cancel my service and start over new, which would include getting a new phone # and starting all my time with them over. I asked them if they valued new customers more than existing customers they wouldn't have them very long. I could still get the razor but it would cost me $200 for the phone. That is so not fair when it would be free for new service. GRRRR
Anyone got a good cingular razor for sale? Lol

I have had many problems with going into the cingular dealers. (especially the one by gloster walmart. ) HOWEVER, I had no problem with upgrades when I just went to the cell phone kiosk inside Walmart. They were more than willing to tell me what my options were and I only had to pay to activate them.

Considering contracts are 2 and 3 years now, sounds like a way to gouge ya. If you can find the right person, you will get your upgrade. I would try the kiosk like missfairy said. They are more than glad to get the business there.

My wife's phone has been dropped too many times (she lets the kids play with it - arggggghhH!) and barely works. I went to the kiosk at Piggly Wiggly in Pontotoc and was told that I couldn't upgrade until my contract came up for renewal. So I'll just try to get it repaired or buy a new phone. I'm not about to sign up for two more years just to get a phone.
Concerning contracts: My stepdaughter used to get a notice from Cingular every year telling her that her contract had expired. The verbage implied (and she believed it until I set her straight) that the only way she could continue her service was to sign for another year. She even went to the Cingular store and an associate told her that she HAD to sign another contract or they would turn off her phone. She didn't and neither did they.

That drives me nuts Rat!!! I have been out of contract for a while now, and that is the whole purpose of not upgrading. I didn't want that contract hanging over my head, and to upgrade phones to the razor would require another 2-year contract. That I understand, and have no problem with. My problem is the only way to upgrade to the razor "free" is to cancel my service and start over as a new customer and get a new number. Otherwise it would cost me $200 for the phone since I am an existing customer. That don't make sense to me. I have been with Cingular for years, have 3 phone lines with them (all 3 can be upgraded) which means I am out or near end of contract, and they will let a new customer have a free razor, but not a long-time customer that has pd $140 a month to them for the past 3 years. SHHHHEESH!
