I'm posting this at TFAdmin's request... I understand you should get what you want when you order it but sometimes being too picky makes you look foolish:
My friend BSIGrimreaper hates vegetables with a passion. So much so that when he orders a hamburger, it needs it to be "plain with only a bun and a patty, with a slice of American cheese, only". Most of the time he gets what he wants but sometimes....
In the past he's embarassed other friends by wiping the patty on his napkin because they put a tomato or mayonnaise on his burger. He's sent many a burger back because it was dressed. He also has a phobia about ethnic food. If we go to a Mexican or Chinese restaurant guess what he orders? "A hamburger, plain with only a bun and a patty, with a slice of American cheese, only"
Tonight we went to Logan's. My meal was perfect. He specifically ordered a burger, "plain with only a bun and a patty, with a slice of American cheese, only." He got a burger with onions, pickles, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce on the top bun. He nearly went ballistic. He picked pieces of lettuce out of his fries like they were toxic waste. When the waitress came back around he explained to her what happened. She had him put the offending bun on a saucer so she could get him another toasted top bun. Before she would take the plate away, my friend grabbed the plate and tore the bun, explaining,"I've had people just dump the stuff off and bring me the same bun back."
He got his toasted bun, plain with no offending veggie juices. He ranted and raved about "99 cent burgers from McDonalds" and "overpriced burgers from Logan's" and "Applebees pulling that pooh about not swapping buns" and on and on.
When the assistant manager came around checking on us, he gave him both barrels. He ranted some more about how when you go to McDonald's to get a 99 cent burger, they get it right. If you wanted to overpay 8 dollars for a damn burger, you should get it the way you want it. He ended up getting his burger for free. I felt for the manager, though, BSIGrimreaper was in a ranting mood. I just ignored the discussion and ate my potato.
TFAdmin has a theory that BSIGrimreaper has "super tastebuds". Everything that tastes good to a normal person tastes bad to him. The only condiment that he likes is ketchup and lots of it. No tomatoes, no marinara sauce, ketchup. Oy vey!
