She's a little doll. Seems like only yesterday my little girl was that young. It reminds me of a commercial I saw the other day:
A father was pushing his little boy on a tree swing. Each time the swing went forward and up it went out of view of the camera. About the third time the little boy went up out of the picture and when he came back down he was grown and he slammed into the unsuspecting father and knocked him backward to the ground. The moral: Kids grow up so fast it catches you off guard.
Another thing, since I'm being sentimental: Several years ago, before I was a father, I went to see Howie Mandel doing standup in Memphis. During his routine he started talking about his little boy, who was a toddler, and got real serious. He said that he made it a rule no matter how busy he was that anytime the boy came up to him and stretched out his arms he would stop whatever he was doing and pick the boy up. Because, he said, one of these days his son won't do that anymore and he don't want to look back and be sorry that he missed a single chance to hold him. That stuck with me and I have tried to live by it. My daughter is 11 and I've noticed that kissing me goodbye seems to be more of an afterthought to her now than an absolute necessity (which it used to be). My son is almost 4 and, being a boy, he would much rather hit me over the head with his sword or punch me in the ribs than hug me and that's okay. But he still waits for me to come home so I can play with him - for now.

She told me tonight that she does not want any toys for Christmas with tears in her eyes. Come to find out she does not want Santa any where near her house.

Just the thought of some strange man in my house, bearing gifts or not, was enough to put me off the idea of Santa Clause. I do not like people in costumes or with face paint. I cannot tell you why either...lol!

She is a cute little girl and looks quite intelligent. I can see the wheels turning inside her little head. Kids pick up on things better than adults.
