Who Farted?

An American Airlines flight bound for Dallas was diverted to Nashville this week for an emergency landing after a woman farted and lit a match to cover the odor.

Everyone on board was removed, questioned and searched. All the luggage was removed and searched before the plane was allowed to continue to Dallas. The woman was not allowed to get back on the plane but she was not charged.

True story: I wasn't present but have heard it retold by two or three who where there.

Some years ago on a small corporate plane taking a handful of employees home after a visit to corporate headquarters, one of the passengers caused a similiar panic. Let me set the scene:

There were about five people on the plane lounging around, moving about, shooting the breeze. The pilot and co-pilot were visible to them through the open curtain that seperated them on the little twin-engine plane.

Suddenly, and almost in unison, all but one of them went into near panic as the cabin exploded with "the most horrible smell I've ever smelled". One passenger was on his knees in the seat with his mouth around the fresh air vent above him sucking in clean air. The pilot and co-pilot were seen shaking their heads before one of them slapped the curtain closed.

Apparently, no one on board had a match.

Of course the ONE calm passenger was immediately suspect and very soon convicted by his own snickering.

"I got off the plane feeling like I needed a shower," one passenger said. The story is legend at this particular Tupelo factory.
