The conflict between Israel and the Muslim world (and it appears Europe, as well) has ratcheted up quite a bit this morning. Where do you think this thing is headed?

I heard an interesting theory on a couple of different shows today about Iran's involvement in the Israeli conflict. Some are saying that Iran is pulling the strings to take the spotlight off their nuclear program and to show us they can be a big-time player.
There were two surprises in it for me today:
1) Germany went so far as to say that the conflict did NOT start in Israel. They blamed the terrorists who kidnapped the Israeli soldiers. I was shocked.
2) Britian sided with France, China, Russia and Italy against Israel.
Amazing that the terrorists fired over 100 missles into Israel today yet it is Israel that is overreacting.
We are in WWIII, folks. Iran, China, and Russia are itching for a fight with us. Britian will side with us and who cares what France does since they are a bunch of cowards anyway.

The US just vetoed a UN resolution asking Israel to stop using disporportiate (sp?) force. France led that resolution, from what I understand.
So according to the UN, Israel is only supposed to respond with like force. They aren't supposed to defeat the enemy - just maintain an endless string of killings. How sick is that?
Of course what the UN really means is that Israel should stop fighting back and let the terrorists kill them all.

That is what I gathered from it. I can't understand why everyone is so down on Israel for trying to protect themselves.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican on Friday strongly deplored Israel's strikes on Lebanon, saying they were "an attack" on a sovereign and free nation. Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano said Pope Benedict and his aides were very worried that the developments in the Middle East risked degenerating into "a conflict with international repercussions."
"In particular, the Holy See deplores right now the attack on Lebanon, a free and sovereign nation, and assures its closeness to these people who already have suffered so much to defend their independence," he told Vatican Radio. *********************************** <end of excerp>
How can the world be so blind to what is going on? Even the Vatican? Sad.
It goes something like this:
Hamas fires rocket into Israel and kills a handful of citizens. The press remains silent. The UN remains silent. Europe remains silent.
Israel retaliates by firing a rocket back at them. The press condemns Israel for attacking its neighbor. The UN issues a resolution demanding Israel stop being aggressive. Europe condems Israel. And now the Vatican..........

Here is what the world is saying:
"One may well ask if there isn't today a kind of wish to destroy Lebanon -- its infrastructure, its roads, its communications, its energy, its airport. And for what? I find honestly -- as all Europeans do -- that the current reactions are totally disproportionate," .....French President Jacques Chirac
"In my view, Israel is making a mistake. It will only lead to an escalation of the violence." ..... Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero
"we deplore the escalation in the use of force, the serious damage to Lebanese infrastructure and the civilian casualties of the raids," .....Italy's Prime Minister Romano Prodi
"The Holy See deplores the attack on Lebanon, a free and sovereign country," adding that he felt for the people "who had already suffered in defence of their independence."....Vatican secretary of state, Angelo Sodano
"On the one hand, Israel has the internationally recognised right to self defence. But at the same time we ask our Israeli friends and partners not to lose sight of the long-term consequences when they exercise this right," .....German deputy government spokesman Jens Ploetner
"The international community and the UN must intervene to stop this crime," .....Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki
"I totally understand the desire and the need for Israel to defend itself properly and I also understand the plight of Lebanon and the Lebanese government, not to say the many Palestinians that are suffering as well," ....Tony Blair
"I consider that all sides implicated in this conflict should immediately stop military action," ......Validimer Putin
"To hell with all of the above"......King Rat

I watched CNN for about 4 hours this morning and their coverage was overwhelmingly negative toward Israel. They interviewed scores of "victims" of the "Israeli agression". One particular interview with a Lebbonese (sp?) businessman didn't seem to go as anti-Israel as the reporter liked so he began to ask very leading questions. Still the man said that Israel did NOT start it this time. So the reporter asked him how he felt about Bush "ignoring" the problem and "doing nothing" to help and the guy started giving him some anti-Bush rehetoric.
For the last few hours I've been watching Fox News and it is overwhelmingly pro-Israel (ie. honest).
I truly feel sorry for people who rely on CNN and other such media outlets for their news and believe they are getting the truth.

Perhaps if those in the world who are against what Israel is doing were to actually lead a life as an Israeli, they would see the whole conflict through a different set of eyes. They have had what 2 or 3 generations that have seen some sort of war. I am sure every one of them have known someone to die from these terrorists attacks. They have all lost loved ones.
Then, in the middle of a peace process in which they are withdrawing and honoring their end, the other side once again styabs them in the back.
It is all they have ever known.
And on a side note, anyone ever heard of John Titor? The infamous web oster who made claims of being a time traveler? He claimed WWIII would come close to the 2007-2008 elections. And that the principal adversary would be China.

What about all those people belly aching because the ships evacuating them were uncomfortable and had flies on them or that they weren't served a meal during the short trip? I think they should use the news footage to identify them and take them back where they came from. It's not my responsibility to pay to have someone evacuated from a war zone they had no business in in the first place. Is it?
One woman, an American, was on someone else's ship (Norway, I think). There were about 1,600 people there and a couple hundered maybe were Americans. She complained that there was no food on the ship. But during her trip a US Navy Seal team boarded and handed out food to all the Americans. So this woman complained that the Seals should've brought enough food for everyone. She even complained that people were having to cover themselves with cardboard to keep the sun off.
I guess she expected to be picked up by Carnival, carried to Cyprus where a stretch limo (a white one) would pick her up and carry her to the airport where she would fly home first class - free.

I hear ya there. Anyone that was there knew the risk before they went. It's the Middle East for Christ sakes. And they dern better be glad to get out of there alive and wuith all limbs intact. Anyone who thinks they conditions of their transportation are not lavish enough, definitely needs to go back and get a glimpse of the poor folks war torn.
I shouldn't have to fit their bill to remove them, when i did not fit their bill to put them there.
But I would be glad to fit their bill to put any complainers back.
I want them out of their, but if you aren't grateful for the ride, you don't need to get on it.

Read something funny this morning:
An Islamic preacher (easier to spell than what they call their spiritual leaders) was kicked out of England a while back because he was going around preaching hate - trying to get the Islamic nuts to rise up and become terrorists. He praised suicide bombers for their dedication to the cause. When he got to Lebonon he proudly proclaimed that he had purchased a one-way ticket and would NEVER return.
This week they caught this brave jihadist trying to sneak onto a ship evacuating women and children from the war zone and kicked him off. He begged the britts to let him return because "he wasn't safe". He has been sending emails to the British government begging them to rescue him. Coward.
