The Nascar circuit is nationwide so I consider Talladega to be in our backyard. As all nascar fans know, our largest round track has just been repaved. I think this may make for some great racing. Busting the 200mph mark going into a smoother turn at dega will add confidence to the driver I would think, but my only concern is if there has been enough"seasoning" of the track by letting test cars work in a little rubber and getting the track out of it's "virgin" state. Also, the trucks will be there for the first time ever. I am very excited about this but has anyone heard if they are going to do anything special (aero change, valences) to restrict their speeds a little because we all remember the horrible crash that Geoff Bodine had in Daytona the first time the trucks were put on that track. Also, how about some predictions about this weekend's race and how it may effect the chase for the cup. LET"S GO RACIN!! gobud8

What a finish! What a race. The new track made for some good racing. Too bad Jr didn't make it but that may be my fault. You see, I was sitting there yelling for Vickers to hit Johnson and spin him. I got what I asked for - and then some.
I wasn't really mad at Vickers until his interview. He blamed Jr then, just in case he needed some extra insurance, blamed Johnson. The only person with NO blame, according to Vickers was Vickers.
During subsequent interviews he dropped the blame and simply said it was a racing thing. I guess he watched the tape or his PR guy got to him.
What happened on the track happened. Rubbin is racing. But Vickers' initial interview revealed that he has no class. The crew chief for the #48 said Vickers "ran out of talent". I don't know about that but he sure ran out of class.

I agree King Rat, Vickers has no class. He was not in the chase. He is gone from Hendrick's at the end of the season. The bone headed move he made was an act of desperation for a win. True teammates help each other. Johnson had a chance to turn things around for himself and the Hendrick's team but Vickers just simply did not think when he made that move. They could have drafted right by Jr. and given Hendricks a 1-2 finish. Jr. was VERY tactful in his post race interview. He did not whine like some drivers do. He said that it was just a racin thing and congratulated Vickers on his first win. My opinion is that Hendricks should cut his losses, pay Vickers the remainder of his contract and put another driver in there for next week. Vickers can just sit on the couch and watch the final races of this season. The new surface made the cars stick like glue. Nascar thought that the initial lap speeds of 198mph was too fast so they went down a size on the plates. Were you there at the race also, Rat? We sat in Allison stands.
