www.djournal.com/pages/story.asp?ID=229825&pub=1&div=NewsSearch djournal over the last two weeks and you will read many more stories like this. I commented about this in another thread, WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING? Someone commented that the perception of the council is one of "aloofness". I think they just coined a new word. If they vote a tax increase and then don't spend the money on what they said they would, I think calls for "NO CONFIDENCE" are in order. This is getting stranger and stranger by the minute. TF

They are acting like a bunch of 3rd graders....look at this crap! www.djournal.com/pages/story.asp?ID=229978&pub=1&div=NewsNO CONFIDENCE OR A RECALL of the folowing City of Tupelo Council Members: - Bill Martin - Thomas Bonds - Carolyn Mauldin - Smith Heavener These Council Members are not acting in the best of the Citizens of Tupelo, which they were elected to serve. If they cannot talk and act like adults, I say we punish them like children. Let's put them in permanent time-out and get some folks in there that can act like adults. This is sad and shameful, TUPELO DESERVES BETTER! Bill Martin is asking the Mayor to do something, which he himself refuses TO DO! TALK AND COMPROMISE. It is not the Mayor's responsibility to change or compromise, this squarely falls onto the shoulder's of Bill Martin and company. Bill Martin needs to be a MAN with some BACKBONE and be at the Committee's special work session. If he and the other's DO NOT show up, the good people of Tupelo should demand a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on these people and begin the process of a RECALL! TF

You forgot Nettie Davis. She's right there with them.
It's hard to tell who to recall first. You could start with "Most Ignorant," but would you name Nettie or Bill? "Most Stubborn" would be easy -- Smith Heavner. "Most Irrational" would be Thomas Bonds (and I'm so disappointed in him -- I really thought he was going to be an excellent city council member). Then there's Carolyn Mauldin, who's trying to ditch the "Loner" status she had and has now become "Most Likely to Throw In with Whoever Asks First."
RECALL. It's time. These people clearly have agendas other than listening to what the people of Tupelo want.

The thing that bothered me most was that Martin said the mayor must rescind his veto or a solution never will be found for thoroughfare. [on daily journal headlines] So, hold up a project that benefits the people, of which the people are paying for just because these councilpeople do not like a committee's recommendations? Pleeeezze! Yeah, a recall is in order if they cannot discuss and come to some compromise. I got a feeling that there is much more to this shameful stuff than what is being reported. Someone should come out and tell all if the people are going to be penalized by stubborness on the part of the ones elected to represent them.

Amen, rutrow. But Bill Martin has decided that HE'S going to lead this council to...wherever. By golly. And HE'S going to be the voice of the ... whatever. By golly.
What's so stupid about this whole thing is that Bill Martin is just trying to extricate himself from his former buddy's butt. I think he's tired of being in the shadow of Councilman Hill, so Martin's pulling this stunt to draw attention to his superb councilman skills (HAR) and distancing himself from what Hill wants. What Martin doesn't understand is that he has NO political future. He'll be lucky to ride out this term.

Well, according to WTVA last night they WILL show up - but they have already called the meeting a failure before it even takes place. So why go? It is pretty clear to me that this council cares little for Tupelo and a lot for themselves.

Did anyone else notice what Mr. Martin said on the news last night? I can't remember his exact words, but he said that he didn't think they needed to meet with the committee until this issue is resolved. What? How does he plan to resolve it?
