I need two books for a required college course. Where is the best place to get them? Books a Million only has one, and it is very expensive.
I need Old Man and the Sea and Grapes of Wrath.

For a college course? Not two that I would expect to see at the college level, but I find it is just as easy to buy from Amazon. Sometimes you can get books used for next to nothing and they are in fine condition. Usually doesn't take long.
You also might try the local seconds store. People usually trade in their required reading.

I remember reading Grapes of Wrath in high school. It is for a English class. I haven't tried Amazon, but have ebay, and they are a tad expensive ($30+). None of the second hand stores in Tupelo have them. Maybe $30 is a good deal for them.

Did you ask Books a Million to order it? Also I'd put it on the board at college someone may have it from last year.

I just checked Amazon.com and they have Grapes of Wrath starting at $4.70 and "Old Man And The Sea" for $3.55. I have a copy of "Grapes of Wrath" and loved reading it (I wouldn't part with it though). I read "Old Man and The Sea" in high school and hated it. In my opinion, Hemingway would have done the literary world a big favor if he'd shot himself much earlier in life. But, to answer you question, Amazon.com has the books you need at a price you can't beat. Those prices are for used books but that's usually the ones I order and I've never gotten one that looked used.

I would not read it again if it was the last printed thing on the face of the earth.

Also try half.com
it's always the cheapest...a few instances Amazon was cheaper so it's worth it to at least compare. Half.com is usually around 2$ shipping as well.

If you buy new books from Amazon you can get them overnight if you are willing to pay for the extra shipping. Typically, I get them within a week with UPS ground. Used books from Amazon don't actually come from Amazon so they take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks usually. They come from private vendors (but Amazon handles the credit card transaction) and all of mine have come through USPS (the mailbox). I try to order before I finish what I'm reading so I can get the used books at standard shipping for a lot less money.

geeze, I hope it don't take 2 weeks or we will have to do something different. It had on it 1-4 days expected shipping, so I sure hope.

Hopefully it will be here quick. I didn't care for either book. Old Man was just boring, and everybody died in GoW...that one I need to read again as an adult. With the historical knowledge I now have it might be interesting.
