This movie fires on all 8 cylinders...start to finish. I won't go into the plot as it's fairly complex and if it were not in the hands of the brilliant Martin Scorses (I can never spell his name correctly), it would have been a stinker.
Some thoughts:
Jack Nicholson gives one of his best performances since The Shining or One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. His digression into madness is simply amazing. I cannot think of another actor that could have puled it off.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon get four stars each. Their characters ave so much depth, I never would have expected this level of greatness from either of them.
I will own this movie on DVD simply because now I remember why Jack is THE MAN. He just chews every scene up.
