I had heard of Tommy Lee (for the obvious reasons) though I never did see his "movie". But I assumed he was a lead singer in some rock band since drummers don't usually get that much attention. Last night my wife turned the TV to Rockstar - Supernova and as I was getting into it I learned that there actually is a group called Supernova (according to my wife) and apparently they are looking for a lead singer.
Almost all of the contestants were really good. One chick sounded like Kurt Cobain and I always have thought it was a shame the doctors couldn't save his voice when he shot himself and transplant it in someone not so messed up. A couple of them just sounded like Lee Greenwood on acid (you know, overkill - like when Lee sings "God bless the U-S-AAAAAAA-AAAAAA-AAAAA-aAAAAaaaaaaAAAAAaaaaa-yee").
It was more entertaining that Idol and the quality of the talent was much higher, IMO.

Last season's Rockstar INXS was an amazing show. Martyv was robbed. He was so different, yet vocally so good. The presence he had on stage was commanding....I know he and his and opened for INXS, I got to find out if they made that album.
I hate that I have already missed the beginning of Supernova. I gotta catchup online and see what's happening.

Oh I know this is an old post! But I loved Rockstar! I really didn't like it though that...Luka's won this year! Last year TF I was for Marty all the way ..TILL...I heard Pretty Vegas....
It is a good show but if they do it next year they need someone better then...."Supernova" of course it was hard to beat "INXS.

I have my own Rockstar:INXS story.
My hubby, Dr. Daniel tried out for that show. He wrote an email asking for the qualifications and entry info for the tryouts in Atlanta. He got an email from someone who was a casting assistant or something who checked out his mp3's and was impressed enough that he got to skip the first round of auditions. So we went out there for round 2 and he performed a couple of songs for casting agents who WEREN'T EVEN LISTENING TO HIM. They had already made their decision and it was for some hunky guy who wasn't really all that talented. They were chatting it up with the guy while my hubby was performing. We were quite disillusioned with the process. Makes me ill.
So we didn't even watch the show. Not even sure if the hunky guy made the final cut of the show or whatever.

Thanks for sharing! You know most of these shows are that way! But I bet you love having a hubby that can sing sweet nothings! Sorry it was such a bummer!
