Ever wondered about a restaurant's health department inspection record? Here's the MS Dept. of Health link where you can look up a specific restaurant, or search by county, to check on its inspection results for the last few years. www.msdh.state.ms.us/food/defaultDates.aspx?s_result=FailI was very interested to see that one of my favorite Tupelo restaurants failed an inspection in the past couple of years. You can also check up on catering companies, daycare centers, and other kinds of food services.

WOW. Thanks for the link. Like you, I was dismayed at seeing one of my fav restaurants fail. Now, I have to think twice before I go there When a restaurant is on the same level as Quality discount store food, well .... it will just has to be cleaned up before I eat there again.

This is cool to have. Butt one Question, how is it that SantaFe is on the list with a passing grade, and not even open yet? ??

I think that they do an inspection before they issue a permit to open, so that brand new "pass" would probably be the permit inspection. At least, that's my best guess. With all the news about the health department lately, it could be that they're just mailing permits to anybody and everybody who even thinks about operating a restaurant.

You must have seen the same restaurant that I did. Quite a shock! Yeah I did calliope. Who'd 'ave guessed the place was nasty? I mean I know Quality Discount deli is nasty cuz you can see it when you walk past, but this place??? It goes to show you never know what is in somebody's kitchen.

Yes, restaurants are inspected before they open up.
But i tell, those pass and fails don't mean a whole lot really. Being a chef, the state of mississippi does not truly inspect these places. They don't my place. Please.
The last time they came , the guy stood at the back door, and asked me to sign his paper so that he could get going. Had somewhere to go.
Our company actually has had to hire the Steritech company to come in a nd inspect it's units for a true health department examination. One that stands up to the standards of new your state, colorado, michigan, etc.
Only then can you know what state your restaurant is truly in. The only thing that you can learn from the state of Mississippi inspections:
If the place fails, it must be horrific, cause they barely even check at all. Be scared if the place failed.

Okay, that's pretty disturbing. By the way, rutrow, check the "fail" list again. There's a new surprise in there, as of just a few days ago.

No surprise about those failing there recently. A look back at our mexican friends establishment shows a history of the same failures, meaning they are taking no action to correct this. That place is a major outbreak waiting to happen.
What's worse is the rumor circulating from an ex employee that they recycle the uneaten salsa and chips.

How about naming some names here, guys, because I have tried over and over to do a search but it just times out. I love Mexican and want to make sure I'm not eating somebody else's double-dip.

Well, Mi Toro in Booneville seems to be pretty clean. I've been in several times, and from what I can tell, the kitchen looked spotless.
