Excuse me?? Your point is? I choose to smoke outside because I and my wife BOTH do not like the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the house. We made that choice. I have the right to choose what is best for me and my family, just as I have the right to smoke. Restaurant owners NO LONGER have that choice. Our government made the choice for them. That is the real issue here. They took that choice away based on politics and LIES spread through activist groups who believe in LIES and misinformation. They are lemmings and choose NOT to approach the subject with any levity whatsoever or by using plain ol common sense. I don't have it both ways. I have it MY way. So far the government cannot tell me what to do in my home, but I suspect that will be next. A lawsuit is inevitable, and then we will be told we cannot smoke in our own homes. That won't hurt me, but I would fight just as hard and be just as vocal because that is yet another liberty stripped away from people who choose to do it. What do you want me to say? That I don't smoke around my child for fear of her getting lung cancer? The answer is no. There is evidence that suggests that Lung Cancer may be cause by weak or recessive genes. Unfortunately it will be years before any kind of conclusive evidence points either way. I do not fear Lung Cancer for my child. As there is not a history in my family. Could it happen, sure. Lung Cancer happens to people in the Himalayas, Tibet, and even the Bushmen in Australia. Where they have little pollution and don't smoke. It is on the increase overall worldwide. With fewer and fewer people smoking or quitting smoking. This is an undeniable fact. Not because I say it or read it on a website, but because dozens of studies and research back it up. Do the research yourself before taking issue with this. Choosing to deny scientific evidence and simple Epidiomology is your choice. I choose to educate myself and not be a lemming to a bunch of naziesque ignorant propoganda. TF

TFA.......If I allowed smoking in my home and you came for a visit with your family in tow...Would you smoke with your daughter in the same room as you?

It's your home and your free to CHOOSE as you wish. Business Owner's don't have the CHOICE you have. But to answer your question. I might. But if my daughter could not handle the smoke, I would CHOOSE to take her outside and possibly make the CHOICE not to smoke. Your question is hypothetical, and my answer is as well. Chances are, she could not handle the smoke, and I would CHOOSE not to smoke or move her to an area of the house where she did not have to breathe it. That's my CHOICE as a parent. What do you not understand about this issue?
The same goes for people who go to bars and restaurants. The owner's freedom to make CHOICES for their business and the patrons they serve has been whisked away to the great Anti-Smoking Concentration Camp at City Hall. Must be nice to know the government has everything well in hand.
You are trying to lead me into "something" and I won't bite because I have the good common sense to know that most children and many adults will cough, and cough when exposed to second hand smoke, or smoke from a fire, or smog, or exhaust, or a matchstick, or a loud fart! Should we ban those as well?
It seems to me you would rather have the government "THINK" for you. Well, enjoy! You are quickly on your way to the first 30 minutes of The Island or the entire movie of 1984. I am not your enemy, you're doing a fine job for me.

PnC, for you, since second hand smoke seems to stress you out so bad, getting away from it will help you, as an individual anyway. It is known that stress kills more people than cigarettes.
Are you aware of the numerous irritants in the atmosphere that causes lung damage, whether cancer, asthma, or emphysema? If cigarettes are eliminated, I'm afraid it's just a drop in the bucket. Here is a quick list of all the things to get rid of for ultimate clean air:
radon (radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soil and rocks), asbestos (fiber used in certain industries, such as insulation), combustion of diesel, vehicle exhaust, fumes from wood burning stoves, paint fumes, acid fumes, fossil fuels, arsenic, lead, mercury, cotton or textile dusts, garden dust, household dust, grass, weeds, mold spores, mildew, coal dust, metals (cadmium, chromium, phosphorus), ozone, and household chemical products such as amonia, bleach, and sulfites (food preservatives).
When all the problems causing lung disease are eliminated, you'll be in hog heaven, won't you? LOL

Went to Mantachie Fest and people are still lighting up but i think they have 30 days to comply. But the ones that smoked asked me if it bothered me and i told them no. Just as it is my right not to smoke it is their right to do so if they wish.I wonder why they don"t make the stores that sell tobacco products in the towns that have passed this ordinance quit selling the product. But wait that would cut into theit living wouldn"t it. Hyprocicy abounds.!

I have read an article that told about large companies using radioactive waste products mixed in fertilizer on the tobacco plants during the growing season. This supposedly started in the mid-40s and 50s. It started out as an experiment to see how large the tobacco plants would grow, I believe. However, I cannot find the original article where I read this grrrr.... Could this be more of the reason why there is so much lung, mouth, and throat cancer? I do not think that tobacco, in itself causes cancer, but all of the pesticides and radioactive material in the soil is more likely. And, it not only was put into the tobacco fields, but also in food crops. Sheesh! We the people do not know what we are eating. We can protect ourselves some by not smoking, but there is no way to stop what they put into our foods. Here is one article. www.ejnet.org/sludge/nsa/nsa112.html And another: www.rachel.org/bulletin/bulletin.cfm?Issue_ID=563AHHH!!! Here is one article about the subject I found pertaining to radiation in tobacco fields. IF YOU ONLY HAVE TIME TO READ ONE ARTICLE, READ THIS ONE. VERY INFORMATIVE. www.acsa2000.net/HealthAlert/radioactive_tobacco.htmlBTW, I know what type of fertilizer I am using for my gardens, starting next year, will be from now on.
