I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but what about the BancorpSouth Center. They just have those little fenced in "alcoves" right out the door for smokers. They are not 25' from the building. How are they going to handle that? I don't smoke, don't like smoke, hate to be around smoke, BUT I don't think the ordinance was done properly. It is not fair or well thought out.

WTVA reported earlier this week that the judge hearing the lawsuit said that some of the wording of the ordinance has some Constitutional problems. It will have to be revisited to some degree. Hopefully it will be overturned completely because it is an assault on freedom.

Hey Guy's, remember Alabamas thinking on the Smoking Ban, and had several things to offer, if only TCC would think about it.

The interviewed the owner of JPs last night on WTVA and he is still in business though he said his business has suffered to the point that he MAY have to move to Saltillo. His brother, he stated, moved his business to Saltillo.
Wouldn't that be great? If businesses moved out of Tupelo in droves and Saltillo boomed? It would be a clear signal that to Councilwoman Deas that her high-minded meddling had consequences. Less government = better government.

A city in Hawaii has just banned ALL smoking - even in private homes. The newspaper article I read (linked from Drudge) hailed the city council as "brave". So, in the liberal world, stripping a population of its rights is no longer facist - it's brave.

Well now, in a way it is brave and I'll tell ya why I think so. How would you like to be the one(s) responsible for banning all smoking and run into droves of people on the street who are angry because they are in desperate need of their nicotine fix? ;D On a more serious note though, who do they think they are banning people from smoking in their own homes? Homes they spent their hard earned money AND pay taxes on? What happened to the right to be secure in your own property?

Ha Ha Ha! Somebody come to visit me and he stunk like cigarette smoke. Since he does not smoke I asked him where he had been? Well folks, he went to play pool in Tupelo and said that quite a few folks in there were smoking!! Ash trays everywhere. Wadda ya'll think of that? ;D

What if you are smoking at a fastfood drivethru? Is that illegal? Or if you are driving down down the street smoking and pass within 25 feet of a business?

Add La Fiesta Brava to the list of places that's closed down because of the smoking ban.
